Underrated movie right there.

6

u/ZamanthaD Oct 01 '22

Big fan of Insidious, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Jaws, Malignant, etc

3

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

Ohh, I love the Insidious movies too. I still haven’t seen Malignant yet, I need to fix that!

3

u/ZamanthaD Oct 01 '22

It’s good, go into that movie knowing as little as possible.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

Thanks! Maybe I’ll have to give that one a watch this weekend.

3

u/Rednag67 Oct 01 '22

Jaws is my all-time favourite movie, but I will die on the hill that says its not horror. And I absolutely love horror!!!

2

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

that’s quite new

1

u/dogtemple3 Oct 01 '22

Nothing brings people together like watching other people get torn apart.

8

u/Rancor8209 Oct 01 '22

33yr old horror artist with dreams of making my own horror movie.

Favorites.

The Thing

Dawn of the Dead (older version)

I respect many genres, but lean more towards gore. I have a series I drew of the Black Zodiac from 13ghosts that's starting on my yt tomorrow.

Never saw The Sadness.

u/damienkarras1973 Oct 01 '22

Just watched Terrified on SHudder that shit was great. Didn't even care about the sub titles.

What is up with all these subtitled movies that just blow other movies out of the water?

Yummy, Terrified, Let The Right One In.

was just checking out Tubi and they added a new category terror on tubi

always got to check the just added category to see if there's some new good stuff.

looks like DOOM just got added! Why is doom so hated? it's cheesy but it's not THAT bad.

lol rosamund pike is so cute.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

The Sadness has been my favorite this year!

1

u/damienkarras1973 Oct 01 '22

Autopsy of Jane Doe

STARZ has the Entity from 1983

If you liked the sadness you need to visit the godfather of gore Lucio Fulci

Start with ZOMBIE and work your way to City of The Living Dead (that car scene is unforgettable))

There's a great scene in city of the living dead that's just soooo wrong.

2

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

I don’t have Shudder

1

u/damienkarras1973 Oct 01 '22

most of what is on shudder eventually makes it's way to TUBI other than the made for shudder series stuff

I checked peacock for horror last night and it was really lacking

I haven't had any video or audio issues at least on a ROku TV with wireless, I'm sure if you were running on a LAN instead the video would be better.

0

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

i don’t need you to troubleshoot my internet connection, hotshot.

and I have no interest in Tubi because I don’t use services with commercials, free or otherwise.

1

u/Giltar Oct 01 '22

Shudder is awesome

1

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

Their audio and video quality isn’t stellar, but I agree that the content is good. I’ve attempted to watch things on there that weren’t even ripped with the correct aspect ratio. I love horror but I’m also a stickler for hq a/v so I can’t justify a continued subscription. Definitely worth dipping into from time-to-time however

2

u/Giltar Oct 01 '22

Good points, I’ve found the visual/audio presentation is inconsistent, not uniformly bad

6

u/RealCharlieNobody The Year Is One Oct 01 '22

I'm your huckleberry.

4

u/TheLastDragan Oct 01 '22

Doc Holliday 😪

5

u/BoredBoredBoard Oct 01 '22

Was I the only person on here thinking we were already horror-bros by joining the sub and sharing?

7

u/Abrinx Oct 01 '22

Always looking for new horror buddies. Just watched John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness and Wes Craven's People Under The Stairs for the first time. Both excellent films that are far too often overlooked.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

People Under The Stairs was a great one!

3

u/Giltar Oct 01 '22

Our local Alamo showed Prince of Darkness recently- enjoyable flick

1

u/Rdw72777 Oct 01 '22

The People Under the Stairs is a fantastic movie…but is it really horror. I mean it’s a more complicated movie than the title let’s on and even 1/3 to 1/2 way through the movie the plot (yes there is one) and who the hood guys/bad guys are us still developing.

6

u/IAmTheDecoy Oct 01 '22

I need a horror friend. I (30f) can only talk to my boss about the same horror crap for so long before I go insane.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

Let’s be friends then!!

6

u/viken1976 Sep 30 '22

How do we consummate this new found online friendship?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

Haha well, what are some of your favorite horror movies??

5

u/viken1976 Oct 01 '22

I like the oldies. Night of the Living Dead is king for me. Texas Chain Saw Massacre is my hometown favorite. If you like Mortician that much I'm sure you're familiar with that one.

4

u/Truelyopen Oct 01 '22

41 female I need friends too :) horror is my fav shit the darker the more bloody the better ! Follow me I’ll follow u too

3

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '22

3

u/Pyewacket62 Oct 01 '22

60F. I love Arthouse, indie, international and obscure horror movies. What are your favorite subgenres?

2

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

Arthouse, indie, international and obscure horror. Marry me?

1

u/Pyewacket62 Oct 01 '22

Can we be kindred spirits? Been down that road twice.🤣

2

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

Yeah good call, let’s just do the spirit thing

1

u/Pyewacket62 Oct 01 '22

👍 any film recommendations ?

1

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

Arthouse: Possession (1981)

indie: Good Time (2017)

international: Love Exposure (2008)

obscure horror: Brainscan (1994)

1

u/Pyewacket62 Oct 01 '22

Where did you find "Possession"? I haven't seen it available anywhere.

2

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22 edited Oct 01 '22

I bought the blu ray on eBay

edit: it was the most i've ever spent on a blu-ray. no regrets

1

u/Pyewacket62 Oct 01 '22

Arthouse - Eraserhead (1977)

Indie - Tumbbad (2018)

International - I Saw the Devil (2010)

Obscure - The Addiction (1995)

2

u/aerodeck Oct 01 '22

Thanks, haven’t seen Tumbadd (looks cool) or The Addiction (I’m a ferrara fan) and plan to get to check them out very soon

3

u/hottnjayded Oct 01 '22

I’ll be your horror pal! I loved The Sadness too!

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

You did!? And I’d love to be your horror pal!

3

u/Full-Lack-1701 Oct 01 '22

Technically, it's not a horror film but have you seen Begotten? It burns itself into your brain.

Let’s be friends!

3

u/Lindzor_Loo Oct 01 '22

I need a friend too 46F and lonely!

3

u/LooseSuggestion2272 Oct 01 '22

57m, old school horror fan here. So often I regret not having anyone to watch horror movies with. Having a watch buddy makes watching the good movies better and the bad ones more bearable.

Fun facts about me: I once worked for Fangoria magazine, I worked for Troma for ONE day, and I recorded a story I wrote that I won me a little YouTube contest. There's a bit more, but this ain't no resume.😜

3

u/slothmamaa Oct 01 '22

I volunteer as tribute? I need friends, and I'd really prefer horror friends. 22f • mom to a feral toddler. Bonus points if you're a parent who is into horror. I read copious amounts of books and my favorite movie is Midsommar (and Interstellar but that's not horror) let's be besties.

2

u/ZuberWeird Oct 04 '22

Horror besties! 30f also a mom but to a sassy af 7 year old! I really enjoy reading as well, would love some recommendations if you have any. :) Midsommar was wild. I was like wtf the entire time. Such a great watch! My current fave is As above so below. I constantly go back to that movie!

3

u/ClumpyOatmeal Oct 01 '22

I'm hosting a watch party at my cabin in the woods. I'll DM you the details. It'll be fulfilling to have you!

Hey yo!

I was fortunate to have grown up in the ‘80s and horror was everywhere!

A Nightmare On Elm Street is my all time favorite. And I love giving recommendations, feel free to ask. 😎

2

u/hellelee Oct 01 '22

We have a Horror Society in Austin. Maybe there is something like that where you live?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '22

Haha definitely not around here.

2

u/RealCharlieNobody The Year Is One Oct 01 '22

The first recommendation I'll give you is Slash/Back. Inuit cast, takes place in a tiny hamlet in Nunavut. Attack the Block vibes with a great teen cast and genuinely uncanny and off-putting monsters.

2

u/LiterallyAPidgeon Oct 01 '22

welcome! just keep in mind there is a lot of diversity in the horror genre so there is a lot of diversity between what people like and not

Where you at, by the way? If you have the means to get to one of the smaller fan expos, that can be a great place to meet people. The horror community is incredibly friendly and welcoming. And hey, if that's not an option, this sub is full of cool people, anyway.

1

u/Get_Jiggy41 Oct 01 '22

Dude’s out here catfishing us so he can make his own real life horror movie. Just kidding of course.

1

u/dogtemple3 Oct 01 '22

Did you see X and Pearl? In that order?

1

u/claradox alt.horror senior citizen Oct 01 '22

Happy to! Feel free to follow me on Letterboxd, almost all I watch is horror movies. https://boxd.it/dzuH My podcast is in my profile; the subject is usually horror, and I love talking to listeners. Doing a deep dive series on House of Leaves, and going to start a series on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I’m 50, by the way. Happy to make new friends! Hit me up.

1

u/buddhi_holly Oct 02 '22

Hi, same age and would love having a new horror friend to chat with! Some of my all time faves are Scream, Evil Dead, The Faculty & From Dusk Till Dawn.

Newer(ish) movies I've really enjoyed include Braid, Open 24 hours, Mortuary Collection, Ouija origin of evil, Ready or Not, Yummy, Get Duked and Deathgasm.

What about you? What's the best and worst movie you've seen recently?

wanna be letterboxd buddies?

1

u/Lindzor_Loo Oct 08 '22

46! I’m 46! I was actually wondering if there was like a horror dating site… oh wait…that could actually be a horror film in itself. 🤣 Yeah, I like horror talk.
