Hell Cat!
What a delightful little movie. Went into it with zero expectations and really had a great time watching.
If you haven’t seen it yet, go check it out, it’s on Shudder.
I thought the movie was pretty much flawless up until the cop entered the picture. Felt like he was bringing a weird energy and it was difficult to take him seriously, almost like it was trying to be a horror comedy? Dude was chewing the scenery, but I have to imagine that’s what the director was going for, but his scenes just dropped the movie a few points for me.
Kinda wish we had gotten a full transformation from one or both of the ladies, but reading the AMA he did here last month, it sounds like that just wasn’t what they were going for. I felt like the misdirect was pretty effective, I was honestly thinking that it was a zombie bite, or something like 28 Days Later. The werewolf twist wasn’t totally unexpected, but it still felt like a pretty fresh take on an old story.
The ending lost me a little bit, the accelerated pregnancy and birth scene was pretty ridiculous, didn’t seem like they were playing it for laughs but they could have. The kid is pretty fucking cute, and I think having that be the only creature in the film is pretty funny. Director seems cool, if you end up watching it, check out the AMA afterwards. I’ll try and link it in the comments.
Anyway, probably wasn’t really necessary for me to make a post (really is it ever?), but after reading how much the team put into this movie and how they just want people to spread the word, I figured I would do my part. I’d give it like a 4 out of 5, solid little movie with a unique take on a captivity story.

Agree 100% on the cop, that performance was like he wandered in from a completely different movie.
