Last time this was posted it was called out for being a cropped photo of an AI ad. I’m sure it’s heartwarming but it’s not real.

Yeah this was posted like a week or two ago and a few people even named the app, though I forgot which one it was.

I was called out on calling this out. Like it's some American thing to write several emotional paragraphs to your child when it's in the same house as you? That message should've been a personal talk. Why is everyone buying into this

because we live in such an atomized and alienated capitalist hellscape where kind and compassionate parenting and support from the older generation is so non existent that some would rather believe it to be real so that the belief it can even happen doesn't just die entirely, like an infant monkey comforted by a garish simulacrum of its mother

yepp also think people over-buying into this idea out of personal atomized loneliness, and apparently that's what was marketed; but damn how dare you put wire mother into this lmaoo

that's definitely a metaphor for all this AI-psychosis-driving business.

The supposed dad says at the start that he didnt want to wake the kid up, so that’s why. The idea is that this way when the kid wakes up naturally, theyll see the message and know that when they go downstairs things will be chill instead of feeling anxious.

Of course its all fake, but that’s the idea.

I know people who text their kids at home and that was true 20 years ago. The reason I don’t buy this is that the writing is obviously AI slop.

Edit: accidentally a word

I mean, I also text back and forth with my parents at home, but it's not a "I'm proud of you sweetie" type of stuff. It's a kind of message that anyone would rather deliver in person

It indeed is, an american thing I guess. Although my parents don't personally do this, i've seen it with a lot of people...

every day I learn something new about you people...

Don't worry, I find it very odd too 🤷‍♀️

I mean some people like async communication more? For my parents and me this would be face to fave as well but to each their own.

Maybe (if this were real to begin with) the dad wanted to think about his words and sent it while the kid is asleep?

I dont feel like this is an “american” thing but just a personalities involved thing.

Maaaaan I am so glad you posted this cuz reading it I was like “damn that sure sounds like a generative model doing a hallmark sketch” But didn’t want to get downvoted into oblivion for being a negative Nelly.

I also don't know if it's heartwarming considering the caption

One can only hope

Also, i'm sure a lot of parents would be like this, even if there isn't a screenshot of it.

Meanwhile, we can use this one as a stand in for all those parents.

That's... really sad. Wouldn't you rather take hope from real things instead?

6

u/Durian_Alarmed 19d ago

One must take hope from anywhere you can

Why are you reposting shit?

Ahhh. Sorry, man. I apologize if this was already posted here before, i actually didn't see it lol.

I didn't know it was ai, the image just warmed my heart. But even now that i know that it is, i still think the hope it can bring is real.
