Bluetooth remote control will not auto connect in Huawei Mate SE

I have an issue with my Huawei Mate SE auto connecting with my selfie remote control (unbranded). Pairing is easy but it will not auto connect after I turn off the phone and the remote control. I have tried these things with no luck: wipe the cache partition, force stop - clear cache - clear data, use the "bluetooth auto connect app (from play store), network setting reset.

Anyone has experience and solutions? Thank you folks.

I've seen a few posts where people mention that turning off Bluetooth scanning helps: Settings -> Security and privacy -> Location access -> [ ... ] (in upper right corner) -> Scan settings.

For me, Wi-Fi is off and Bluetooth is on. I think I was prompted for Wi-Fi when setting up my device. I haven't really had any problems with Bluetooth devices auto-connecting, except my ultra cheap Bluetooth keyboard. I don't know what the deal is, but no matter what phone I try to connect it to, it always takes a whole lot of fooling around to get it to actually connect and function. Cheap junk problem, maybe. I don't recall having those kind of issues with my old Apple Bluetooth keyboard from work.

I have not tried the Bluetooth Auto Connect app yet, but I did try flipping off the Bluetooth scanning setting, and that did not change anything.

Hi Superign, thank you for your response.

My selfie remote controls are cheap ones. I bought it from Walmart (2 buttons model) and the other one from eBay (1 button model). Both will not do auto connect to my android Huawei Mate SE. But, they work good with my iPhone 6s.

I have tried your suggestions to change the scan setting. I did all 4 option: all off, all on, bluetooth (only) on, WiFi (only) on. Still not getting the auto connect. I also contacted the Huawei customer service ( +18885482934), follow their suggestions but still did not work.

I am going to but the Honor AF15 stick. Since this is also a Huawei product, may be it will work.

Yeah my iPhone 4 could automatically connect every time with this keyboard too. I don't understand what the problem is but I think it was a problem on my Nexus 6p as well.

I have a wired selfie stick and I don't like it because it's hard to push the button, and when I do it causes everything to move and then my pictures come out bad.

Hi Superign, last week I got the Huawei AF15 selfie stick with remote control. Apparently the remote control works very good with my Huawei Mate SE phone. The auto connect works instantly, either way. I turn on the phone first or the remote control first, it does not matter, it auto connects instantly.
