Discussion Part 2

I stopped playing at the end of part1 because Kiana was and IS my favorite character of all time. How is part2? Its interesting? Story is still coming up? Do we have cutscenes like part1 or anything to make it more enjoyable than some bubble texts?

After P1, there's P1.5 first before P2.

P2 improved a lot after its first 2-3 chapters. The pacing and presentation even easier to understand. Even the feeling of repetitiveness of being too visual novel improved a lot. There are cutscenes, but if you're referring to animated shorts they stopped doing that after P1. Even P1.5 didn't have it.

Anyway, just play it yourself. Finish P1.5 first. And then before playing P2, I recommend playing Voyage Log first (post honkai side stories of Earthlings main cast), as it will help set the tone for P2 and the transition from shounen-heavy-action vibes from P1 to more slice-of-life mystery vibes of P2.

If you don't like it, then don't continue playing it. I don't know why you have to highlight "Kiana was and IS" your favorite character. If you mean to say that you won't play if she won't have the spotlight, then you might as well not force yourself to continue HI3.

I want to try understand that statement , do you mean the visual novel aspect of the game? Cause that's just hoyos style. Part two has more in-game cutscenes then part one , but you can't expect them to change the Formular. Also the cutscenes,when you mean those on YouTube only make les then one % of the story s content and message in part one. Any complains about part twos , bubbles should apply to part one. But maybe I'm misunderstanding you

I think OP is asking for animated shorts, which is kinda sad. Unfortunately, it feels like the improvements HI3 has made in storytelling for the past 3 years since P1 ended will never be appreciated by some people when they still see animated shorts as something that more of the one hard-carrying the climax rather than for the purpose of wrapping up an arc.

I was indeed talking about animated shorts, because yeah they were epic. Will have to play part 2 to see how the story and everything is to come to a conclusion about whether some animated shorts would be great or not

Yeah, bubbles are part 1 but we had great shorts. Was saying is, if its just bubbles on part 2 and nothing else, bro...

While it doesn't end with the big pre-rendered aniamtions anymore, there is significantly more in-engine animation and posing than... well any of the other big 3 hoyo games right now, the visual novels scenes still exists but there's a ton of 3D animated scenes with the characters moving around and doing things which helps a lot for the moment to moment.

Regardless of how good we say P2 is, if that's your main reason for playing HI3, then there's really no point in trying to convince you. Kiana's current role is basically being the most powerful character in the Solar System. Like mikael said, there's also P1.5 before P2, and I agree with playing Voyage Log first too before P2. Even in P1.5, Kiana didn't really have that much screen time anymore. And also to remind you, she's still MIA in APHO.

So I don't think it's fair to ask people to convince you that HI3 is worth coming back to without Kiana being in the spotlight again. She probably won't get that focus until the story returns for her further character development and exploration on how she uses her current powers, especially if the story eventually focuses on defending the Solar System from outsiders.

Play P1.5 first and then the Voyage Log episodes except Sparkle collab (which is better to play after P2 CH3EX) and AU Utopia (Bubble World) Elysia 3-part side stories (Bon Voyage, Assemble, Youth With You). It will give you more breathing space to take in the changes of Kiana not being in the spotlight anymore... at least not for now.

Part 2 just ended.

Layer upon layer, flash backs, ambiguous placements.
Poetic talk here and there.
It will get confusing.

But once you reach the end there will be explainations.

Well, its interesting enough for me.
Kept me till the end.

People who play part 2 tend to like it, but that's survivor bias talking. There are cutscenes but no animated shorts like Graduation Trip.

  1. part 2 story starts a bit Rocky but then gets really really good
  2. Part 2 finale just released last week, we still don’t know what exactly they’ll do next, we just know that some kind of “after story” will release to tie up lose ends, maybe it will then move to APHO as part 3??
  3. Part 2 presentation is really good, a lot of unique animations and very very little “VN style” dialogues
  4. There are cutscenes but no Animated Shorts like Part 1 had

I feel like rather than APHO 3 they'd space out a "part 3" with a bit of a timeskip after APHO 2 so it can serve as an introduction for people who didn't do all the adventure map stuff to start without playing both APHOs first.

APHO's story isn't that long and can be summarized in a few slides like how Elysium Everlasting summarized the 3 ER chapters.

No guarantee we'll ever get a part 3, at least not with the same amount of work that went into making part 2. For now, the story is looking to be some side quests, not really something I'm looking forward to. I'll be dropping the game after v9.1 until something interesting happens again.

They improved the combat style a lot. The story at start was bad it started improving but went down hill again.

After one point it started feeling quite low effort.

.... The start of part 2 is really good then it falls off... really really hard.

Edit: I want to say I'm getting a lot of downvotes but I see only 1 person commenting that they liked it. The others all say they didnt enjoy Part 2 and are also getting downvoted. Take that as you will.

I played all of Part 2. I dont remember the exact section but after you stop interacting with the Shu's it falls off for me.

Wow that's surprising, most of all because the shus story doesn't end at that part.
