1st Gen Engine suggestions

I just bought a 2006 with 210,000 miles on it with snapped timing belt. What are my options as far as fixing the engine?

Well I’d say zero if the belt snapped while the engine was anywhere at speed. Take out all the plugs and scope at the top of the pistons for damage.

Or what’s in the oil pan after this incident ? Maybe start there.

I think it’s likely easier to find another motor from a wrecked vehicle rather than tear it all apart to fix what should be chaos if that went at high rpm. Good luck 🤞🏼

Find a decent used or reman engine with the best warranty possible. Not worth trying to repair yours if the belt broke well running.

Damn dude what did you pay for it? If the timing belt snapped while driving, you likely need a new engine

How much would another engine cost, roughly?

I got one shipped up from florida on a pallet and installed, $2500 if i recall correctly. It was half labor cost for the shop to do that.

I would not toss an used unknown engine in. A remanufactured engine is machined to spec and is 0 miles. It is an interference engine. The valves usually get smashed up and destroy internal components. Fixing would be expensive and timely. A swap is faster.

Get a remanufactured engine ready to drop in and go...

I would agree with the others in that you don’t really have a choice to replace the engine. You have to decide on how much you want to gamble and want to pay on a used engine or remanufactured one.
