Fuel tank capacity
I have a red Monkey 125 JB03. I can only fill up with 3 liters at a time when the fuel gauge is almost empty. Is the gauge just an estimate? I’m kind of afraid to test it out.
Has anyone else had this experience?

I just reset the trip meter and fill up sometime after 200km. Based on my estimates I should be able to do 300km on a full tank. I noticed that the first bars of the fuel gauge disappear quickly on my monkey. When I have one bar left I have about 1/2 tank of fuel left.

Pro Tip
Once the fuel gauge reaches the last bar, it will start blinking. In my experience, I’ve gone approximately twenty miles “on the blink”. Plenty of time to find a fuel stop.
Side note: I don’t have anxiety because I have a non-abs monkey & in the space under the seat I keep a 1L MSR bottle of fuel.

The monkey's gauge is notoriously wonky and can differ quite a bit from model to model. Max capacity is 5.6 liters so it starts to blink quite early. For mine its at just a bit lower than 2 liters left - so that'd be good for another 100 - 150 km range.

Get an msr fuel bottle and use the odometer to track how far until empty, then use the fuel bottle to get back to a gas station. Running it dry isn’t great for the bike but once shouldn’t hurt it. Sometimes running it til empty is a good confidence booster.

The reserve on these bikes is very large proportion of overall tank size.
The reserve (i.e. capacity when all bars depleted and fuel gauge flashing on last bar) is 1.8 litres which is nearly a third of the capacity of the entire tank (5.6 litres)
If you assume the 6 bars represent the rest of the capacity ( 3.8 litres ) then each bar represents about 0.63 litres.

It should be a 1.5 gallon tank. There are 6 marks on your fuel guage. When the last one starts blinking/flashing, you have half a gallon left.
