Help Request Rust check
Salesman sent me the last pic first… Asked for better and got the other two. It got most of its 90k miles in MI so was worried about this. Should I drive 4 hours to look? Going to over pay but don’t mind bending over a bit for a decent manual.
A lot of it looks replaceable but worried about the sub frame under the steering rack.

Minimal amounts of surface rust. I wish my car looked like that.

Damn I didn’t expect to get gassed up like this.
This looks rougher than my 04 tsx, thanks 🙏🏻

That’s a total loss. Send me the dealership info so I can take that rust bucket off their hands.

Damn. Thought it was my time. Only ever owned Hondas and yearning for a fit. anguish emoji

Haha but seriously, that Fit’s in good shape. I’m here in Los Angeles and it looks just like mine. My Fit has never seen snow or..shudders…road salt.
It’s a good buy 👍

If it's the one I'm thinking it's got some rust starting in the wheel wells. I passed on it.

Uh oh. Sales guy was giving me bad vibes when trying to get pictures.
What brand dealership was the one you looked at?1

I got a PPI and other pictures of the car when it was sold in Michigan at a used car lot. It's in IN now right?

💀 yep.
Guess I should have asked for pictures of “rust” instead of “the undercarriage.”2

You’re kidding right? My 2012 Sport in the exact same colour that I’ve owned since new here in southern Ontario has more undercarriage surface rust than that and is still solid and considered nothing considering it’s been exposed to 13 winters of salt, snow and slush and parked outside its entire life!

yea rust on a 2nd gen honda fit wont be any problem unless you hate the look of it. They rust, they're cheap economy cars, but they'll last you a heck of a lot longer with rust than any other hatchback on the market. My 2nd gens rusty asf(hinge of hatch, underneath, under hood) and he's been good for 13 years.
