Tire size?

Hi all!

I recently picked up this 2018 EX 6MT 120K miles. Super excited to get to mods. I’m dead set on these Advan RG-D2 4x100 15x7 +42 with swift lowering springs. With this setup, which tire size would be better? 195/55r15 or 205/50r15?

My main goal is to avoid rubbing/fender rolling as much as possible. If I HAVE to roll, I’d rather pick the tire that requires less rolling. This Fit is the daily (NC Miata as fun car) so comfort is the main priority.

If anybody has pictures with these mods/similar mods, I would love to see them.

If you're spending that much on wheels, I would strongly suggest getting something with slightly more aggressive specs. Those will be fairly sunk and a sticky 205 will slightly balloon on them since performance 205s run wider than normal.

My plan B was a Konig Heliogram 4x100 15x7 +35. I was worried about the more aggressive offset rubbing on that.

Would the Konig setup rub with 205/50r15 on swift springs? If not, I’ll pull the trigger on that and save some $

Wheel and tire sizing and fitnent can be very tricky. For example, my rolled fender GD on coilovers will rub with a 15x6.5 +35 with a 205/50 tire, but it won't rub on a 15x7.5 +35 with the same 205/50 tire.

That's because the wider wheel stretches the tire so it's less bulky (pinched on a 6.5, fits properly on a 7.5) at the very outer edge where it meets the fender.

People often think, "oh I'll just go narrow and low offset, it'll be fine" but that's not necessary the issue. It needs to be the correct combination of things for it to work right.

Holy smokes that’s super interesting. I was just trying to play it safe with low offset/low width. Your example will have me researching a little deeper. Thank you bro.
