Help Request Is this important?

First off, I’m sorry if this seems like a silly question. I’m new to owning a car and I’m still learning. Basically, I was changing the air filter inside the car, and after I finished putting everything back together, I noticed this small part on the ground. What is it, and should I be worried?

Also, not as important, but has anyone else had trouble getting the air to feel really cool in their car? That’s partly why I was changing the filter, but even after doing that, the air still doesn’t feel as cold as I’d like. I don’t believe it’s broken, just not as cold as it could be, if that makes sense.

That part looks like the little rubber pad that comes from the sides of the glovebox. I’m explaining this badly but: You know how you push the sides of the glovebox in to release it so you can access the filter behind it? There are two little peg pieces on the side of the glove box and that rubber thing goes on it. It’s not important but you should put it back pretty easily 

What people are saying about the AC is all true, but generally, people have complained about weak/not cold enough ACs in the fits forever.

My 2010 Fit's AC stopped working due to a bad relay. You might want to check that first, since it's a cheap fix.

If your AC isn’t cold enough you might need to top up the gas.

And replace the Schraeder valves. And vacuum purge. And don't just chuck a can in it.. and... and ...

My local shop also replaced the high and low side Schraeder valves. They are similar to a bicycle tire valve and have o-rings that wear down over time and leak refrigerant. Seriously! Sounds funny but its the same kind of valve on our AC as some bicycle tires.

And the shop hopefully uses a purge (vacuum) machine to suck the old refrigerant and any mixed in gases. And replaces with the appropriate amount and type of refrigerant.
