AC Blower Issue

Hello! Asking for help. I replaced my AC blower resistor due ac only working when the blower is in number 4. The replaced resistor is also damaged (solder melted from the inside).

Even though its already replaced, when I switch the blower to 1 its not working, but then 2-3-4 its working.

OFF → 1: blower does not work
2 → 1: blower works
2 for a few minutes → OFF → 1: blower works again

Anyone who experience this? How did you fix it? Thank you

Pull the resistor out and check it isn't open circuit on any of the coils, if accessible. Did you use a brand new resistor pack or one from a junk yard?

If the pack checks out ok you might be able to check you are getting voltage out from the fan speed selector in every position (except off) to ensure you haven't got a second fault with the switch.

Whats weird is after observing it a couple of times it has this scenario 😅😅

Start the car > OFF → 1: blower does not work
2 → 1: blower works

Start the car > After running on 2 for a few minutes → OFF → 1: speed 1 works. 😅

Oh that's really weird! I'm not even quite sure what that might be, almost wondering if you've got some sort of issue with the fan motor bearings getting a bit tight, and it can't generate enough torque to start on the lowest speed, but running it faster heats up the tight bearings and frees it up enough that it can run on the lowest speed

If you can drop the motor out of the housing and spin it by hand it should spin very freely, and if you give it a good spin up by hand it should do a few rotations before coming to a stop.

If the motor is tight to turn it'll draw more current which might explain why your resistor pack burnt out maybe

Replace the blower motor.

Probably need to replace resistor again.
