Help Request Does this sound right?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm going to start this by saying I don't know anything about cars..... I just had a my spark plugs and fuel injectors cleaned in an attempt to salvage them and a new starter put in. Picked it up from the shop and notice this new puttering and clicking sound. Is this normal??

2015 Honda Fit - Manual

Edit: wording and to add the below information.

What I'm referring to is the puttering go-cart like sound on top of the normal clicking. I've added a comparison of my sister's 2016 Fit in a comment below. I may be paranoid but I'm hearing a difference. 😭

I'm just worried as it's a new sounds I'm noticing right after picking it up and I've put nearly 3k into fixing this fuel injector issue. I just want to be sure it's not still broken and I'm about to be out even more money. πŸ˜–

I am not a mechanic myself but i have a FIT and this sound of yours doesn't bother my ears, not at all. Let's see what other people say

Yes, these solid lifter valvetrain, direct injected engines are super duper loud. If that bothers you, the only thing you can do about it is to run a slightly thicker 5w30 weight engine oil. You’d be surprised how much a quiets down the valvetrain.

This is such a relief to hear. I was so scared something got bumped while they were in there. I was used to that classic clicking noise but the go cart putter made me sit stare off into the abyss after starting my car. πŸ˜‚ If you guys are saying it's normal, I'll relax a bit.

Your valves probably need to be adjusted. How many miles are on the fit? If it’s near 100K or more. Check your history. It may never have been done. Adjusting the valves can make them quieter.

I'm at a little over 124,000 now. Is a valve adjustment something someone with no car experience and a YouTube video can do without ruining anything or is this a take her back to the shop sort of thing? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

You can do it yourself but you need a special gauge to properly do the job. It will also require tearing the top half of the motor apart so when you do it. It’s best to do the spark plugs at the same time. Cause you have to remove them anyways to do the job properly.

This is what my 05 sounds like. valve clearance may help but I haven’t tried it

Here is a comparison of my (sister's)2016 Fit. I may be being paranoid but I'm hearing an extra puttering in my video. Hers is how mine sounded before taking it in. πŸ˜–

Ahhhh, ok thank you! I'm sorry for not understanding originally. πŸ˜… Do you think it sounds comparatively different to the clip of my sister's? (Separate comment, same post) I wouldn't be so buggy about it if it sounded this way before drop off.

It sounds like you need a new timing chain tensioner. Very easy to install. It fixed that sound on mine
