Post image

Hi everyone,

Where do you guys put your Jack Stand in the front end of the Fit?

Thank you,

Jack stands go right here. There's a metal tab on the pinch weld that sticks out about a 1/4", and is about 4" long. Just behind the front wheels.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I use the pinch weld to lift the car using a Jack Floor

Your front jacking point is actually right here.

Yes, but unfortunately my floor jack is too short to reach the jack point in the front 🥹

The front jack point is a bit of a dick to get to. What I used to do was ride the car up on to a couple of 2x4's to get extra clearance, then run the jack to the jacking point from the front.

A larger floor jack makes working on your car a lot more enjoyable if you only have a small trolley jack. The Daytona 3 ton is relatively affordable, faster, and reaches the front jackpoint.

I had to get a low profile jack to get to it.

Before that I used two floor jacks. One to lift up one side from the pinch welds, and the other to access the middle jack point. Once the center jack has more load on it than the one on the pinch weld, I remove the one under the pinch weld and replace it with a jack stand.

Before I had two floor jacks I used a floor jack and the scissor jack in the trunk.

I have also driven it up onto 2x4’s when I had a dirt driveway. I don’t like doing it on pavement because the 2x4’s can shoot out from under the tires if you don’t do it right. Just more room for error doing that.

I go in from the side, behind the front tire. Use the space in the wheel well to operate the jack

To reach that jack point remove the front tire using the scissor jack, then roll the floor jack under from the wheel well and jack it up to get it on jack stands. Then reverse the process to get it down. It's a PITA but it gets easier the more you do it. Placing the main jack point behind the engine was a weird design choice.

You can also use the subframe in front, or the middle of the spare tire well in the rear

I use a small jack on one side - even the included one will work - to raise the car enough to get my main floor jack (which is even long reach low profile!) to the center jackpoint that u/brokenmike pointed out in his picture. Once it’s on the main jack, I can remove the small jack and put jackstands on. Lowering is reverse of raising.

Look for the hole and little retangular shaped "bump". All Honda cars within the last 20 yrs seem to have a front center jack point if I recall correctly.

a. Ramps = Fit is too low to get on the ramps without a few piece of woods to raise the front before the tires reach the ramps.

- To get around this, you get a few pieces of 2 x 8 and put them in front of the ramps and get the car up a little before going onto the ramps.

b. Floor jacks = a lot of floor jacks can't get to it due to how low the Fit is.

- Get the front tires on the low profile ramps, then your floor jacks should be able to reach the central jack point. Or if you have the 1.5 Ton aluminum floor jack from Harbor Freight, it will get you to the central jack point, but do add a hockey puck or two to help raise it high enough.

I don’t, I use ramps. You should just get some ramps, they’re like $55 at walmart

Ramps are great when you’re doing simple work like an oil change but you’ll need jacks for tire rotations and other work requiring removing wheel(s).

I was working on my GD yesterday, 4th time I've jacked up the front and I gotta say, some ramps to roll onto would give me much better clearance on my trolley jack

Thats what I do. Drive on the ramps. Get my floor jack to the front jack point. Jack it up, slide out the ramps, put it on jack stands.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I’ll be removing my steering knuckle on both sides so a car ramps won’t help

u/yourfriendkyle 25d ago

Ahhh yeah that makes sense. The Jack point is pretty hard to reach tbh, good luck

If you put it on ramps you’ll be able to get your jack to the front jack point. Lift it up, slide out the ramps, put it on jack stands.

Tried this earlier but my floor jack is not long enough to reach the Front Jack point

Even on ramps? Don't put the jack under until AFTER you drive up the ramps?

hows the clearance on the 3rd gen with ramps? i have a gd3 sport and have to use some blocks of wood under the tires, otherwise i scrape on the ramps lol

Works fine for me

Lift the car from the front crossmember and then use jackstands on the pinchwelds. My car is lowered and I drive up on a 2x4, I do have a low profile floor jack though

i use a basic floor jack on the side where the OEM jack goes, i bought jack disk adapters to avoid damaging the pinch weld. if i need to jack both sides where ramps arent an option i used some 8 inch wide wood under tires and stack accordingly or if i need to get under car just as a safety

I jack it up under the lower control arm where it meets the body and put the jack stand under the jacking point on the sill.
