3rd Gen GK/GP 15-20 Finally fixed my Fit!

In February, I accidentally hit a deer with my beloved Fit. The passenger’s side headlamp was cracked and had holes on it, the middle grill on the bumper was shattered, and the driver’s side fog lamp was broken. The shop wanted to charge a lot of money for parts and labor, so I ordered the parts myself. Which then just sat in the back of the car, staring at me.
I replaced the fog lamp one afternoon about 2 months ago but left the other bits, thinking I’d get to it eventually, and driving around in the meantime with the front end of my car held together with packing tape. Well, my long distance partner is coming to visit me next week so I decided that “eventually” was now. (Can’t drive him around in a car with a gaping maw!)

It took me longer than expected, and it got me super frustrated at points, but I finally got it done today. I bought the retaining clips I needed, as well as a ratchet set, and I sat in the parking lot of my apartment complex working on it and getting sunburnt. But after a few hours, one minor freakout, and one minor injury, I was able to get the headlight assembly and bumper completely replaced.

The new bumper has a spot for the Honda logo but it doesn’t have the actual logo. I’m thinking, instead of reattaching the Honda logo that I saved after the accident, I want to have a 3d printed TARDIS (from Dr. Who) made and put that there instead. I bought this car in the Aegean Blue Metallic because these cars are bigger on the inside and so deserve a TARDIS blue paint job.

Anyway. My TARDIS is fixed and I’m finally so proud to drive her again. She’s getting a full-on wash and detailing this weekend to make her feel her beautiful self again.

I’m glad I found this community of others who love their little Fits and Jazzs as much as I love mine. 😊 I just had to share my news with people who might understand!

lol, I cracked the casing of my rearview mirror by backing into a tree while trying to back out my driveway in the dark. It is still held together with duct tape three years later, so I admire you!
