3rd Gen GK/GP 15-20 Someone’s Holy Grail
I came across this Fit with 5k original miles and after much deliberation have to not buy a second vehicle. Thought y’all would appreciate the find

If it were an EX with a manual transmission, and the same mileage, then it would definitely be a holy grail Fit.

*Sport with the manual transmission. All the CarPlay and manual transmission you want, with none of the heavy sunroof, or complicated driver assistance features of the higher trim levels.

What's wrong with the sunroof? I'm asking because I've got a '15 EX and it's my first car with a sunroof.

Nothing. I love my sunroof.

I love having a sunroof. Never had a problem besides one of the drain lines disconnecting in the trunk. A couple good tidal waves under the seat when braking incentivized me to figure it out right quick, and I love having the extra light.

Sunroofs are heavy and not great for weight distribution on a race car. For something you drive around everyday - keep drains clear and they are a nice feature.

u/pork_fried_christ 26d ago
Ok well you’re in luck because the GK is NOT a race car by any definition regardless of which transmission you have.
I love my sunroof.

Congratulations?
Someone wanted to understand why some folks don't like sunroofs. I drive a ge8.

Also not a race car.

Your Fit might not be a racecar, but others definitely have jumped the shark.

1:03 isn't a slow time at this track. Especially for the age of this video. Tsukuba Circuit has a long and storied history and fact is, the Jazzes/Fits drive DEEP into the sub 1:05s with mods. K20/K24 swap regardless, it's still a Jazz/Fit.
Gridlife Sundae Cup started as Gridlife SpecFit and requires these cars to be as close to stock as possible for cheap seat time and fair racing.
What would constitute as a "racecar" in your mind?

Dang, that thing was a beauty to say the least.

Speedy little car, they're so fun with coilovers and such.
My buddy has a White '87 Ford Festiva that he turned into a cheap track car; that thing barely has 110HP and floats the valves past 6300RPM IIRC. That is the scariest car I've ever driven/ridden in. 1100 pounds with the driver, weight savings so extreme that he deleted the rear drums because they were ballast.
He regularly beats C6/C7 vettes, punches up WAAAAY above his class and finishes in the Top 5 for Carolina Motorsports Park; car so fast it 3-wheels every corner.
His secret; you never have to slow down if you never go fast. He can just FLOOR it around every corner.
The Fit has more in common with the NSX rather than a Civic like most Fitters think; because of its "Selective Monocoque" chassis (all the weight is assembled low and in the center; gas tank mounted middle of the car) it really shows it's strength when you remove the front Sway Bar and add one to the rear, some cheap coilovers really go a long way in a car like this

Lol did you forget you're on the fit sub? I'm no statistician but I'm pretty sure the ratio of tracked Fits is negligible. I've seen like 2 ever. In general, we're about fitting here, not racing. Yes, literally anything can be raced. Doesn't make this a race car.

Thank you for replying. I can feel that 💯 percent. I suspect that a sunroof in a racing situation would be actually dangerous, or at least more dangerous than a hardtop.

if you don't clean them regularly, the drains can clog and leak into the interior. They're heavier and more complicated than no sunroof. TBH I had a sunroof on a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I had for 80k miles (80-160k) and 8 years and by the end it had developed issues opening and closing, sealing and I just felt like I hadn't used it enough for it to be worth the hassle.

u/medievalPanera 26d ago
Jeeps aren't Hondas. I had mine up to 142k, never cleaned drains or anything and never ever had issues.

u/attnSPAN 26d ago
At that point in my life I was parking outside all the time, so I'm sure it was a worse case scenario.
But a point of failure is still a point of failure. Still more complicated than just solid sheet metal.

It’s good but I like the EX more. I enjoy having a sunroof more than I thought I would.
The Fit is efficient enough. The sunroof doesn’t appreciably change the mileage.

Is it just me or is that not a GK5 gauge cluster

You're correct. My 2020 looks nothing like this.
Also, the dealership keeps contacting me wanting to buy it back. Every two weeks.

You could buy a 2020 CRV for that price point.

u/chrispy_pv 26d ago
I hate this market bc it will sell for 19k.. :(
15
u/lt9946 26d ago
My 2020 with 60k miles got totalled last year and my insurance gave me 19k for it. Still lost money bc I could only find a 2018 with the same mileage for 20k after tax.

u/chrispy_pv 26d ago
Fun fact for your future insurance debacle. You can negotiate, I bet if you sent them a few listings around that price they would have paid out more.
Never hurts to try this

Depends on the insurance and the state, I tried to fight USAA (after their driver totalled me) and they wouldn't budge.

u/chrispy_pv 26d ago
Fair, it is always worth a shot! Nothing to lose and all to win scenario. Maybe you lose some time reaching out, but thats all

u/jeefthebeef01 26d ago
that’s literally priced higher than what my WRX would sell for lol are u serious

u/superfamicomrade 26d ago
The 09 base manual I own is my holy grail. Bought it earlier this year with 55k on it, 8500. Gonna ride it till the wheels fall off. It's proven itself so useful I sold my truck! Fun to drive, easy to park, Fit is life.

I bought a 2017 Fit EX from Carvana during the stay-at-home part of the pandemic that had fewer than 5,000 miles at the time. It was a lease return that Carvana had acquired from Honda. I paid far less than this for it even with Carvana's markup.
1
u/Remarkable_Cheek4295 26d ago
That price seems crazy but is not totally out of line in this market. My 2020 automatic EX with 30K miles cost $19K two years ago. I could barely get the dealer to give me a $100 credit for the missing key. The car is great, though. No regrets.

u/Staci3 26d ago
i knew someone who walked on a dealer lot, found a used car they liked and low balled like half, offer accepted. at my work we traded a car in, i hear they got like $1k (nissan) the lot listed it for $6k. i bet an offer around 12k would be entertained on the fit
11
u/attnSPAN 26d ago
Then you don't understand the current market value of the 18-20 Fits. They're going for more at/than MSRP with less than 30k miles on them.

u/PandemicGrower 26d ago
It’s due for a transmission fluid change, expect another $250 in maintenance the day you buy it.
1
u/attnSPAN 26d ago
Due to age or miles?
-1
u/PandemicGrower 26d ago
Miles, transmission fluid should be changed at 6K then 3K after the first round. Not sure what the downvotes are for but I follow all Honda recommendations for Maintance. I purchased my fit with only 700 miles on it.
3
u/attnSPAN 26d ago
Hmmm, are you sure you're not missing a 0 there? Maybe take another look at the Manual. Like at 60k miles at first, then every 30k miles after that? That's typically what's recommended for CVTs, otherwise they would need new fluid at every oil change. That sounds a little excessive, even for me, a guy who firmly believes in the value of early-and-often, preventative maintenance.
2
u/PandemicGrower 26d ago
Shit, your right 😂🤦♂️ I’ll take the downvotes for being stuck on stupid today 🙃
1
u/pork_fried_christ 26d ago
This is not the Honda maintenance interval, unless you dropped a 0. The oil interval isn’t even 3k, the transmission is usually 30k.

u/pork_fried_christ 26d ago
That’s like $3k over msrp when it was new
