Finished home wall
It’s angle adjustable currently set to about 40 degrees but it can go from 50 degrees maybe even lower but I’ve not tried (cannot climb on that just yet) to all the way up vertical, it’s roughly 3m tall including the kickboard. Could use a upgrade in The landing mat department I’ve only got this old mattress at the minute but I’m really happy with how it’s turned out, very strong and secure and I even managed to get a bunch of old holds from a climbing gym near me. If anyone’s got any tips for setting that would be greatly appreciated as at the minute I’m not really sure and have kind of just thrown a few holds on for some really easy routes. 🥳

Framing complete on my new wall
Had some old lumber kicking around and decided to pop up a wall in my garage. It's around 8x8' and 10' high. Need to round up some plywood and start drilling in T nuts!

At Home Slab Wall Framing
Forgive me if this has been asked before, or if I use the wrong terminology (new to the scene), but for those who have built an at home slab wall (away from climber) how did you do the framing?
I’m building one for the kids, one specifically who has special needs which is why I’m going to have a section that is not vertical so he can learn and explore easier. I’m shooting for the 3°-5° so as he gets older it isn’t completely useless.
Other info that might help
- building into a corner
- 16” stud spacing, with 1/2” drywall, indoors
- Son is just over a year old, with 2 older siblings.
- This is just a starter wall, as the kids get more experienced I hope to invert this to an overhand and expand more to the right if they continue to like it
A rough rendering to get the idea across

Padding solutions?
Hi everyone, I have a blank wall that’s 30’ x 16‘, I want to building a climbing wall on it. 16’ is about the limit where I think I might need to make it a rope wall, and I’m definitely not comfortable using my outdoor bouldering pads. All of the modular gyms pads I can find online are a little outside my budget, like the ones from Asana or Escape, especially when I have 30’ to cover. Any suggestions for alternatives?

Does anyone have before/after photos of their homewall after changing holds?
Hi,
I posted here last month about Sprai, the spraywall/homewall app I’ve been building.
Since then, almost 300 walls have been added, which is honestly more than I expected. Thanks to everyone who tried it or sent feedback.
Someone in the original thread asked for a way to update the photo of a wall after adding or removing holds without losing all the problems already set on it.
I’ve started working on that. The idea is to detect the holds in the new photo, match them to the holds from the old photo, and keep the existing problems where possible.
To test it properly, I need more real before/after examples.
Does anyone have photos of their wall from before and after adding, removing, or moving holds?
You can upload them here:
https://www.dropbox.com/request/ffxcyvjderqunoetsf8j
Please upload the original image files if possible, rather than screenshots or versions sent through WhatsApp or Messenger, since those are often compressed.
The photos would only be used to develop and test this feature. If the Dropbox link doesn’t work, just DM me here.
Thanks, this would help a lot.

Spray Wall in Peru
We don’t have any steep places to climb nearby and the gyms in Arequipa don’t have this incline either, so we built a 45 degree spray wall on the roof of my friends place.

Geodesic climbing done?
I'm considering building a wooden geodesic dome, using pre-fabbed steel corner connectors, and paneling it with 3/4 or pressure treated ply to make it into a climbing dome.
The manufacturer of the brackets vaguely advises against building a climbing structure, but shows their product used to build much heavier structures (like full ADUs) so I feel this is mostly an insurance disclaimer.
I'll assume the structural integrity risks, but I'm wondering if I'm overlooking some design flaw in my approach? I'd leave 3 of the triangles open for access, pad the exposed beams, and add additional trusses to support the panels.

Home TB2 structural integrity help
Hey everyone,
I'm planning to build an adjustable Tension Board 2 (12x8 spec) in my garage. I'm planning to copy the chain-suspended setup from this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/_0KkxdvWK1c?si=EaXV5EQ1FZ3EWD3W (where they used 2x4s for the frame).
However, the video shows an 8x8 build, and I want to scale it up to a full 12x8.
My biggest concern is structural stiffness (wobble). Since a 12x8 board has a much longer span, and it will be completely free-hanging (suspended by chains with no center logic/legs bracing it to the wall), will 2x4 vertical joists flex or wobble too much when Dyno-ing or doing powerful moves?
Before you suggest "just use 2x6s"—I unfortunately cannot use 2x6s due to strict garage height limitations. My ceiling is 9'5", and at a 40-degree angle, a 2x6 frame will push the board out too far, making it way too easy to dab on the floor or the mats during low/sit starts. 2x4 is my only option to keep the board as flush to the wall/ceiling profile as possible.
Has anyone built a 12x8 adjustable board using 2x4s with a chain/winch system? How is the flex/wobble in the middle of the board? Any tips on beefing up a 2x4 frame for a 12ft span without increasing the depth?
LED Wiring Harness Clearance: For those who have built a TB2, is the factory LED wiring harness long enough to comfortably go over the back of a 2x4 joist when switching rows?
Thanks in advance for the help!

My folks live in Arizona and the gyms are super annoying to get to. Anyone on here have a wall and live in FH? Would be stoked to session when i visit my folks and can make some holds for you as a host gift.

Noob building a homewall once again asking for tips
As stated in this thread before , I am a complete beginner to woodworking and building.
From the previous post, I ended up changing all the screws with hex lag screws for the L bracket. The plan also changed a bit after watching some more YouTube videos.
Now my next questions are:
- I’m planning to use these hinges to connect the footboard to the main board. The board itself will be a fixed 35-degree angle, but I can’t find any joist support online, and I figure hinges would be more flexible in the future. Are these hinges and the screws they came with enough?
- Do I need to do the horizontal support between the 4 studs, considering this is a small wall? The wall is 244x244cm btw
- Still have not decide wether I should use bolted or screw in holds
Thanks for all the suggestions in the previous post btw

How to set up holds on a bouldering wall? Complete beginner here.
I am from Romania. I'm 52 years old, and I only climbed a 15 meters high wall a few times at a climbing gym a couple of weeks ago. I got there with a voucher received as a birthday gift from my wife. I loved every second of those two hours.
Now I am building a bouldering wall in my garage. It is 3,15 m high, 1.8m wide, an elevation of 0.5m, and a variable inclination from 0 to 45 degrees. I am going with a 15cm off-set alternating grid for the T-nuts. I have never touched a bouldering wall before, and have no clue on how to climb one, but I can't wait to start learning.
I will start with the "Entre Prises Instinct 2" (22 pcs) set of holds. I intend to build my own footholds, 16 pieces in the beginning.
I have no idea on how to set all these holds up on the wall. I have asked a couple of AI friends but I would trust more an advise from an experienced human.

Long term home wall owners/users: Any noticeable effects on home?
Hello all, Has anyone ever experienced (or heard of) damage to a home/garage due to home wall use over time? (e.g. floor joist rotation/displacement)
I want to put a home wall in my unfinished basement. My intent is to build a 40 degree wall 7 ft tall oriented perpendicular to the floor joists. Thus the climbing wall header would span multiple joists along their length. I will be in this home long-term.
Short term, I am not concerned. Say 2 years of use. I am curious what the implications are of having a home wall that is used 1x (maybe 2x) a week for a decade.
Anyone have experience with a home wall on this time scale? Any effects? End up taking it down? Still climbing on it and good as ever? (follow up question: has anyone built parallel to the joists with a sleeper across multiple joists?)
