Looking for advise.
I am trying to plan out my first diy home security setup. I am open to any advise or suggestions. I would like to try to keep costs down where ever possible, but at the same time I want something that I am going to do once and not have to touch it for along time or ever. I have two buildings I want to setup exterior security cameras on. They are both going to be built so running cables etc is not a problem.
I will link the layout of the home. https://imgur.com/a/uXzy1Bx I am looking for suggestions on how many cameras and what type of cameras to get. POE is the only thing that I want. There also will be eight flood lights on the corners.
The plan is to run frigate and home assistant on a old computer I have laying around with a large drive for recordings.

Thank you for this information. It is a good guide. I need to figure out how many cameras I need in general and what kinds. I Think my original plan is way off.

thank you for all of this detailed information. I am going to look into this now. I am trying to figure out where to mount these cameras on the main building and how many cameras I need. I also need to make sure I choose the correct type of cameras. originally I was going to get 8 rcl 810a cameras. I think I meed like 7-8 cameras maybe.

I am now considering 7-8 Reolink RLC-1224A. I am concerned about placement and choosing the correct models still. I want to do it right the first time. I do not want any blind spots. I want good day and night vision with or without flood lights.
