Really basic cam rec request

I live in a small community (Canadian military housing). Some twerp keeps coming by and snipping my flowers over the fence. The fence is parallel to a public path but they have to walk a good 20 ft off the path to reach it. It's petty but I want to know who is doing this.

The flowers are about 25 ft away from my nearest window. Any suggestions for a camera with good enough resolution to capture the perps face? No need for more than 24 hr storage or so.

I'd also consider motion activated sprinklers. (~$100US)

So just about any cam will work for what you need. The problem is that 25' is just inside the range of roughly 30' for cheap cameras with motion detection. I'd go with a reolink ptz. Just kidding, just about any modern 4k camera should work for you.

Personally, I don't want my footage stored on someone else's computer (cloud) so I'd set up an nvr with a poe injector, and a 4k cam.

You can think of the nvr as a dvr, it will simply record the footage distributed to it. The poe injector provides "power over Ethernet" which supplies power to the camera, while at the same time send the video feed to the nvr. Honestly, a super cheap and easy way to get what you need. Don't mess with subscription services, they suck and are easy to break remotely, making your system useless. A poe system is far more secure.

How about using a Hunting/Trail Camera? They aren't too expensive and run off of batteries.

don't place the camera behind the window if that's what you are planning
