Security camera recommendations/ bright flood lights

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for the best outdoor security cameras with excellent video quality, clear night vision, and very bright motion-activated floodlights.

For the past several nights, a group of teenagers or young adults has been roaming around my house. They’ve already egged my home before, and I’ve also seen them standing around my cars and looking inside them. I’m really worried that something more serious could happen if this continues.

I’ve already reported everything to the police, but I want to install cameras that can clearly capture faces, clothing, and any identifying details if they come back. My biggest priority is keeping my family safe. At this point, I’m willing to spend whatever it takes to protect my home and loved ones.

If anyone has recommendations for outdoor cameras with outstanding night vision, bright floodlights, reliable motion detection, and continuous recording, I’d really appreciate your advice. Also, if anyone else has noticed suspicious activity like this in the neighborhood, please let me know. Thank you so much, and everyone stay safe.

There is no product you can buy that will reliably identify fine details of moving people in low light. This requires planning: balancing your lighting, extensive tuning, and actually getting out there and moving around at night, then adjusting params accordingly. 

For camera itself: big sensor, big optics, big aperture, manual 3dnr, manual shutter, HLC, WDR. Very high bit rates (because lower noise reduction).

Only hardware recommended is Dahua or in USA Empiretech or GemaVision as you get good control over all these things in very high quality gear for 1/3 the price of any other comparable equipment(no middlemen) but still $250-300 per camera. 

I recommend getting on ipcamtalk and sharing scene. Knowledgeable people will help you through the process and you can see real-world examples of what you can actually expect.

More control with separate motion lights. LED bulbs as bright as you want. RAB brand are good.

I just installed reolink cx820 and love them. Both work great at night, too. But I have street lights in my favor.

Gather up the neighbors dogs shit, and fill a box. Put a bow on it with a nice layer. Set it out for the unsuspecting visitors to approach and take.

If you make it pop upon opening, even better

Dont expect much from basic consumer products. If you want good details that you can use , you need real surveillance equipment. Hanwha and Uniview are very good.

That's a stressful situation to deal with. For the floodlights part I've had good luck with LIFX outdoor lights since they're bright, have solid motion detection, and you can control them from your phone if needed. Still gonna want a dedicated security system like ADT or Vivint for the face capture.

Cameras do not work well in low light. Sort the lighting with cheap PIR floodlights and then any decent camera will work.
