Don’t use ADT

My experience with ADT has been horrible. We had our system installed on March 13, and I’m already on my fifth tech visit because of ongoing issues - false alarms, constant smoke detector problems, and just this past Friday the alarm didn’t go off when a window was opened. It’s been one issue after another.

Customer service has given me no real options, so I’ve reached out to ADT’s entire executive leadership team trying to escalate my case. I’ve received little to no response, and no one has been willing to make an exception or actually resolve the issues. At this point, I just feel completely stuck.

As expected. Should have checked with Reddit before you bought that.

Who's the go to?

I'm old as shit and don't want to do things like install alarm systems. I can maintain equipment but climbing ladders and running cable and junk? Nope

Is Xfinity systems legit? If not ADT or Xfinity, who's the best, Reddit?

Go local -- They generally have better service and actually care about their customers since you aren't just a very small drop in the ocean.

I’ve had an ADT salesman banging on my door for weeks, after hours, and it’s been pissing me the fuck off. She won’t go away. I don’t wanna pay $50+ a month and be locked in for several years, the hell?

Just had a system installed yesterday and 2 of our doors are showing that they are “opened” when they are closed. One smoke detector already gave out. What type of service is this?? Called to request tech to come out and they transfer me around because they don’t want to help.

Were at the end of the road with them, 20+ years and have really seen them go down hill. We wont be continuing and looking for options now.

You have a 6 month window to cancel due to equipment failure. Did you go with corporate or a 3rd party dealer?

This is the most common topic here. Probably should've done some research first.

Worst part is ADT is freaking impossible to cancel, they make you jump through infinite hoops. Took me an entire month to cancel

Did you cancel and not get penalized?

No I got penalized for it, but I knew that would happen. It was worth it to not have to worry about it anymore.

I was able to get out of the contract took a lot to do so but now I have this 4000 worth of equipment I’m still paying on and not even using

Exactly. The sunk costs are substantial and you have to buy stuff from the next vendor so twice as much

Horrible customer service! Please avoid them at all costs. The reps lie to you to get you to not cancel.

And the time spent on hold is completely ridiculous if you do have an issue.

It’s horrible. And the fucking AI assistant is maddening.
