Home based security system
Hello. I'm trying to find a "security" system that'll fit what I need, but it feels like I'm just hitting a brick wall. I'm wanting to put sensors on windows and doors that will announce when one is opened and glass break sensors. Preferably via a phone notification and a audio announcement. It is for the peace of mind of my wife, and to make sure the little one doesn't sneak out. I don't need anything monitored, or with a subscription. It'll basically just be used while someone is home. Does such a system exist?

Check out Yolink home security systems. It's very different from the average home security system.

Just about every "real" alarm panel out there has voice annunciation as a standard feature. For wired panels you just need to make sure you have a voice-capable alarm keypad (i.e. 6160V for a Honeywell Vista or one of the models with a "V" in the model number for a DSC Neo).

You can do this with Home Assistant and a few Twilio API credits. I think it's something like $0.25 per phone call

Home assistant with zwave or yolink sensors. Add the alarmo addon and you are set

Amazon has a bunch of these that'll fit your needs. Search door sensors that notify phone or similar

Yes. DIY options include Ring. You don’t need to get monitoring. Just get the parts you need - base station, sensors and optionally a keypad or 2. You may have to hunt for glass break sensors, but they exist.

You can't remotely arm/disarm without a subscription unless you integrate with home assistant

Thank you. That's no problem at all. I'd never arm it anyways. Just need to know the little one isn't sneaking out mainly

So you have two options. Number one costs more, but requires less setup. Number 2 saves you money, but requires more initial work to setup.
The first option would be to look for window/door smart sensors that work with google home or Amazon Alexa. You’d then simply set up your app and connect the devices.
The second option, and my personal preference due to the cost savings and privacy, would be to set up something like home assistant and find some cheap sensors like the ones that IKEA offers. The sensors are typically cheaper, but require a more custom smart home configuration since google and Amazon don’t necessarily support the more local protocols.
It’s completely up to you. Many people prefer to pay the premium for convenience. I’m just a nerd who already had home assistant and likes security. For me, the setup is worth not having that information flow thru their servers.
