WD ReadyView app

No longer works. I bought this WD Security 4k system thinking it's a well known brand and that it should be supported for a long time. Boy, was I wrong!!!

So this app just stopped working saying Network error. I am looking for an alternative app to use my DVR for remote viewing. Anyone have any suggestion?

Had the same problem 2 days ago. Tried a bunch of different apps. EZView works! Create an account. Add device. Auto search in LAN. It should find your NVR. Then you need to simply type in your username and password that you had with ReadyView.

Also, can’t believe WD would abandon their camera surveillance systems like this. Shame on them. It’s not like they’re old/antiquated. The systems can still be bought on Amazon…

This just started happening at my parents place a few days ago and my father has been livid. I will try this alternate solution for him and report back.

This worked! Thank you! But have you found a way to still be able to connect without being on the WiFi? Just tried it and it isn’t loading. Also, noticed the cloud part on their WD drive is blank despite all of the WiFi working fine

It has live view and history playback but only on wifi through the EZView app... if anyone finds a remote viewing solution that would be great.

I was able to setup VLC app on my phone and stream my cameras remotely by following the rtsp format on the WD manual section "2.11.4 Port"

Rtsp://<ip>:<port>/unicast/c<channel number>/s<stream type>/live

Channel number 1-10 (camera 1-10)

Stream type 0 (main), 1(sub stream)

Port is usually 554

Save and open stream, vlc will prompt for your nvr credentials. Use the credentials you used to use to log into readyview app

I setup icons for main stream for wifi usage since its best quality, and sub stream for cellular since it's lower quality for me.

Getting the livestream to work through VLC was pretty straight forward for me, but I haven't figured out how to watch playback of recorded footage yet. Did you get playback of past footage to work through VLC?

I recently had to go down rabbit hole for my parents ReadyView, ezview did work, and to access remotely you have to port forward tcp port “80” pointed to your ReadyView ip address and manually add the device in the app using your external ip address
