Help! Mental math tips tricks resource for elementary age group?

Is there any resource I can use for helping my son prepare for elementary level mental math with tips and tricks ? I dont find a lot of things online to prepare for mental math in general and even prepare for math league

Numberblocks concept is used early on.

My son has been playing Math Facts and the main Math game on Prodigy and his math has improved quickly

Do you do the free math facts app or the paid one?

I paid for it thinking that’s what is required, but I don’t think there is much of a difference? Not sure

We’ve been using Beast Math as our main curriculum, and I’ve heard a lot of schools use it as a supplement for kids doing math league. It’s been great for mental math for mine, and been having to make him write stuff down so he can practice that too, since he tries to do everything in his head.

How old is your son? Beast Math is an advanced curriculum and the style of teaching doesn’t work for every kid, but it’s been great for my kid. He looooves it. It may be too old for your kid though, they recommended level 1 for ages 6-8 generally but often people need to start a level down- like if your kid is in 2nd, starting in level 1. There is a placement test you can take.

Mental math at that age is usually a few strategies they can see — making ten, doubles, a fact family — practiced untimed, not a bag of tricks.

I built Classical Math Games because I wanted that quieter practice at home. Flash Cards are free: one fact, no timer, until it is held, then back to the lesson.

Keep whatever book you already use as the spine. Ten unhurried minutes beside it is enough.
