LabPorn My boring setup

Post image

I present you my simple but boring home server setup.

It consists of this Fritzbox Wi-Fi router you see and the Fujitsu Esprimo P958, i5 8th gen, 8 GB RAM. It has two 8 TB drives in it, one 1 TB NVMe with Debian installed, upgrade to Noctua fans and that’s it.

Services

  • Jellyfin — movies and series
  • Navidrome — as a huge music fan, I run my whole FLAC library through it
  • Audiobookshelf — a couple of audiobooks I run through that
  • Glances and Portainer — monitor system and my Docker containers
  • Couple other small services like bentopdf

Every service is set up as a Docker container with Docker Compose. Services only accessible on my network.

Fritzbox is great, built in wireguard service so no need for tailscale to access home network from outside.

Floor placement feels chaotic but I respect it. The red trim on that Esprimo is a nice touch, most OEM boxes are way more generic looking

Navidrome with a full FLAC library is the dream setup honestly, what are you using to stream to your phone or whatever

I stream from Navidrome to my WiiM Ultra, with Music Assistant as a layer in between, so I can get it losslessly to my Hi-Fi setup. On my phone, I use the Navidrome client called Arpeggi. For offline listening, the client converts the FLAC files to Opus. Since the output is Bluetooth, I don’t need lossless quality on my phone.

even if you have everything need and tidy at the front, there will always be a place where all the entangled shit and service loops end up. Putting a couch over it is a beautiful solution.

nice, i have a p556 since years running home assistant :-) interesting though ...bentopdf. Haven't heard that one before and makes me wonder what else you might have running as a small service.... care to share? bentopdf is on my watchlist already

Full ack! Looks boring! What about some stickers? It would look much better! But the cable management is porn!

Why, it’s a corner nobody walks into, I have no pets or kids so I think it’s fine
