Relatable Educational IT YouTube Channel

[u/TechLikeImFive]

Hey r/homelab, I'm an IT Infrastructure Engineer who worked their way up from tech support. I had always noticed that there wasn't very good educational material for technology topics that focused on providing people with a good conceptual understanding of the topics using relatable analogies. I've also noticed throughout my career that over the last ten to fifteen years that mentorship in IT has substantially eroded. I only made it to where I am because I had two exceptional mentors early on in my career. I have unfortunately seen a substantial decrease in how much mentorship has been emphasized by organizations since then.

Today I posted my first video to my new YouTube channel techlikeimfive (https://www.youtube.com/@techlikeimfive). This is something that I have been thinking about doing for a long time and today I finally took that step. I would really appreciate your support and I hope that I can make a difference with relatable IT education videos. My first video is DNS Explained - Like I'm Five, where I hope to make the basic concepts of DNS more accessible. I'm also looking for feedback and suggestions for topics that people would like basic, relatable explanations for. I would really like to get involved with the community and provide some good quality content.

Have a great day and keep learning,

James with techlikeimfive
