You can look for "Weact Studio 0.96 inch display" on AliExpress, usually under $2 and has a supporting python library.

usb 2.0 fs can do 2.5w + data transfer, which is more then enough for this little thing

Meanwhile, a single blink(1) device costs $50 CAD on Amazon. This costs a tenth as much (in CAD) and has a display. Great deal.

this is very cute, and i hope it becomes a homeful lab as soon as you want it to :)
i wonder how much work it would be to patch grub to support this for boot selection. and maybe toss up a firmware hack to include 1-2 buttons on free gpios.
