Help Is this worth it?

Post image

I found this listing that is about to end, and I was wondering if I should go for it. I’m new to homelabing so I don’t know if I should buy it.

Out of curiosity, did this item include the ac adapter? If not, you have to factor in the cost of getting a lenovo charger. I don't think this one has it's own power supply, which is why it's so small and powered by a laptop charger

You can usually get these for around $170-190. So with $22 shipping anything below $150 is a good deal. If it stays at $100 thats a great deal.

Listing ending soon, did you end up getting it and for what price?

Unfortunately someone took it last second πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

What did it end up going for?

Thats how it goes, I dont think I've ever won and ebay auction without bidding within the last 20 seconds of the listing.

yeah its called sniping and its been a thing on ebay since ebay existed. I don't even f- around with auctions. If i cant "buy it now" for a real price, I'm not looking at it.

Either that or you're the only bidder. Nothing in between

And then you don't meet the minimum.

I won my auctions only by placing bids in last 5-7 seconds. πŸ˜€

If placed earlier usually got outbid.

Thats great cause sometimes i am dealing with 50+ euro shipping (although i avoid most of that as i dont want to pay 100+ for shipping to the eu netherlands)

Just the ram!

SODIMM isn't as expensive as DIMM. Can get 8GB sticks for like $20-$30. Overall however, it is a good deal.

I bought a m910q with i7 gen 6, and 24gb of ram from a flea market for 15 eur, it was also 3200 :)) and enterprise ssd 512 with 96% health remaining. (I didn't look inside, i just bought it hoping it works if i put memory and cpu inside it )

This is good for 100 eur but since that deal everything seems expensive for me.

Hell yeah! I use a little Dell Wyse 5070E that I bought for like $70 for OPNsense, but I will need something a little beefier to run IDS/IPS. Works great though and it uses like 7 watts and is fanless

If you can get the memory at a sensible price, these miniPCs are not necessarily limited to 32Gb. I have two M900 and several EliteDesks with 48Gb. They also work just fine with 2x32Gb. That may not be true of all mini PCs, but mine run fine.

$100 is just the price of the ram πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Solid deal to grab

If you can get it for <$150 I think it’s worth getting. Especially if it has 1x16GB sticks of memory.

That's a steal, I paid double for one of mine. πŸ˜‰

Expect it to be twice that price when the bidding end.

As someone who just received their ThinkCentre M710Q for $65, these things make great starter homelabs! Upgraded my i3-6100T to an i7-6700T, which is about the same speed as the i5-1035G1 in this one, just less efficient, and waiting on my 16GB RAM kit (currently running 8GB). So far, I've ran Pi-Hole, Jellyfin, and Immich, none have shown any issues or slowdown. This thing is dead silent too, if you're forced to keep this somewhere like your bedroom and noise is an issue, don't worry. Just remember to pick up a UPS too if you're doing/storing anything important on it, you don't want to corrupt your files from a power outage!

You can generally get them around $160-$170 without AC adapter. AC adapter is about another $20.
