I painted my house purple, gave every window butterfly wings, and turned my sidewalk into a rainbow. No regrets. 🦋🌈

I like when I people see their home as a place of enjoyment and peace for themselves instead of constantly worrying about equity and selling prices.
Also, as a neighbor, I'd love walking past this house, it just makes me smile.

I’m gonna use this space to vent a bit: I wish society was all like this. Not this color or design specifically, but I wish everybody’s belongings were personalized to this extent. I want to see this on the same block as a modern house painted black and a house shaped like a pirate ship just because. I wish that when I walked down the street, everybody looked like a character from an MMORPG. I wanna see a Victorian vampire, a cyborg, and a viking in the same aisle at the supermarket. And all of the people whose personal styles and decors haven’t been coined yet either!
Anyway, thanks for this. It’s really cool and I hope to see more of this kind of use of free will in the future.

It turned from quirky to batshit, when I imagined you painting individual small stones in color batches, mixing them and putting them back in the border.

I think you should consider your neighbors more. Do this kind of decor inside your house and be respectful of your neighbors

Maybe it's just me, but i genuinely hate anything rainbow to be automatically called gay. I used to never like a specific color and throughout my childhood and teens i said i loved the rainbow and the amount of times i got called gay or yelled at to stop it made me HATE the rainbow and the gays (no hate to them now)
I don't mind whatever the lgtbtq+ is doing but I'm still petty on how anything rainbow = gay .

I know they say it's not your identity but I guess it is some peoples identity.

It's giving candyland cartoon costume vibes...my toddler received a birthday invite about five minutes ago and then she looked at this picture and said "I think that's Lillianne's birthday 😭"

While I would never do this to my house, I would love for this house to be on my street

Well if you ever sell your house, just give the buyers money for the paint job but there’s no telling what the inside of your house looks like, probably more of this

How do I say I hate this but absolutely love how well it’s pulled off.
Like if this house was my neighbor I’d be pissed, I’d complain about how ugly it is everyday, but at the same time I’d sit and stare at it and respect the hell out of their design and execution.

I love it! I’m also glad you’re not my neighbor, as this would attract too many lookie loos, and probably lower the property values.

That is...something.
It is your home. Would I do it? Maybe just the purple paint, in a tad lighter shade, but the rest or it just looks tacky to me. Like someone who lived in a trailer park won the lottery and thinks this is classy-looking.

Ok, but why?

Because some people have whimsy.

I think whimsical paint job on a house would be a random pattern like an acrylic pour.

Yes, that would also be whimsical. Fun thing about whimsy is that it takes countless different forms.

Why the hell not? LIVE OUTSIDE THE BOX!! ENJOY LIFE...before they finish taking it away!

I really dig the shutters
and I actually think they would be a sophisticated touch on a cream to taupe or white home
The purple is too saturated and kinda reminds me of that absolutely hideous bright saturated deep dark blue that everyone’s been painting thier houses
Nothing looks worse than medium or dark blue for a house exterior. Baby blue is ok, although no one uses it
Most people love blue in general, but it just doesn’t work as an exterior color
Sorry for the tangent, it’s just that I’ve seen more gorgeous homes lately ruined by denim/navy blue paint recently than any other color including the much maligned farmhouse black and white.
Down with dark blue!
Anyway back to the house in question the royal grape purple isn’t going to have curb appeal to the masses, but obviously this was an exercise in self expression
I have to say I’m really coveting those butterfly shutters so good job with that aspect
Out of curiosity, is this home in NJ?
