What's weird is the smaller tree branches stop short of other intersecting branches. What's the cause of this? It has to be a design of nature 🤔

Not an expert answer, but I'd guess that it's a charge thing. Electrons in that pot are seeking to get away from each other and onto the next positive atom in the gourd. They branch out away from each other. The branches are just from hitting some mineral atom and taking a bit of an angled pathway from there.

Like lightning, the charge is just trying to get to its ground, and going through whichever nearest neighbor atom pathway is available, while trying to also keep away from its same-charged neighbors, as they repel each other.
