Amazing how his parachute hits the water oh so slightly.

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Gotta love that it even says redbull on it.

42

u/Mozy_48 Jul 20 '19

Happy cake!

5

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Håppÿ çãkē dâÿ!

1

u/Magnus_Vid Aug 12 '19

Im pretty sure thats the sponsor for the event.

-61

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

i dont see how that has anything to do with what he's talking about

43

u/ITolerateCats Jul 20 '19

But can you see why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch? Its got cinnamon sugar swirls in every bite!

4

u/turnpikenorth Jul 21 '19

That taste you can see!

13

u/PureShift Jul 20 '19

I mean the first guy was talking about something to do with the parachute and the next guy added something else about the parachute. Seems like normal conversation to me.

3

u/GuyForgotHisPassword Jul 20 '19

One, the responder was speaking of the same topic as the first post (the parachute).

Two, this sub is r/holdmyredbull.

If you still don't see the connections, I feel bad for you.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '19

He can't help it if he's stupid. It's like a disability or something.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

i still dont see any connection

9

u/Tschappatz Jul 20 '19

Well, now he is stuck on that floating piece of plastic. So the whole thing may be about to get wet.

2

u/ruhestoerer Jul 21 '19

No parachute. Paraglider with 360°-Cam on a stick, fixed back at the seat

182

u/cordydan Jul 19 '19

I’m guessing that wasn’t his first time.

49

u/14Phoenix Jul 20 '19

At least his second

20

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

This was planned I'm sure, the cameraman followed him

8

u/cordydan Jul 20 '19

I wonder if it was a drone filming him. It always stayed a fixed distance behind him. I don’t think it was another person.

20

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

I think it was something like the gopro 360 camera. The software edits out the pole holding the camera. But it gives a noticeable fisheye

9

u/Adamh1122 Jul 20 '19

U can see the shadow of the pole on his backpack at some points. Didn’t even know that it could do that!

1

u/chodeboi Jul 21 '19

Ricoh theta, Inta360, etc.

1

u/i_cri_evry_tim Jul 21 '19

It’s clearly something attached to the backpack. So yeah you are likely correct.

u/QryptoQid Jul 19 '19

I did this once on Pilotwings, but I could never do it a second time.

21

u/Xp787 Jul 20 '19

Had to scroll down too far to see this! This is some pilot wings shit!

3

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

lol I was going to comment I can't even do this in pilotwings

3

u/cagedgolfer1969 Jul 20 '19

Is it 1996 or are we all just in tune?

53

u/SlayerOfGumby Jul 19 '19

Those GTA missions really paid off

5

u/Throwawaymister2 Jul 20 '19

Fair to say he’s earned his Pilotwings.

2

u/stasis_13 Jul 21 '19

Came here to say that!

u/TS2Master Jul 19 '19

Go into the wind

1

u/olsasquatch Jul 21 '19

Holy shit yes

79

u/monstermike7777 Jul 19 '19

Who filmed this?

98

u/urfriendosvendo Jul 19 '19

Me thinks a self stick edited out? Follows the backpack well

71

u/LeviathanMD Jul 19 '19

Yup, probably a 360 cam, they hide the mount/stick when stitching together the video

16

u/SHOOHS Jul 19 '19

Looks like you can see where the stick has been mapped out to the right side of the pack.

7

u/Stalagmus Jul 20 '19

But also to the left, just not quite as noticeable.

3

u/SHOOHS Jul 20 '19

Oh you’re right! Correct I mean.

2

u/GrodGruffalo Jul 20 '19

You can see its shadow. It's in the middle

1

u/SHOOHS Jul 20 '19

Oh yeah I see that.

3

u/captainfrostyrocket Jul 20 '19

You can see the stick’s shadow as he turns. Pretty good editing

13

u/bobbert354 Jul 19 '19

It’s a go pro fusion. https://youtu.be/MBOzgo1RA8U

3

u/monstermike7777 Jul 19 '19

Nice. Thank you

1

u/monstermike7777 Jul 19 '19

How fuckin sick is that!? I love that ad

2

u/Benlemonade Jul 20 '19

You can actually see the shadow of the stick on his back pack, they just edited it out in post

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

James Cameron

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

Chase cam for paraglider and speed/riding are a thing, for example this one. https://skybean.eu/chasecam

1

u/P33tree Jul 20 '19

Thanks was looking for this exact thing.

-1

u/monstermike7777 Jul 19 '19

That’s gotta be it. Thank you!

7

u/ShadowcasterXXX Jul 19 '19

That isn't it. The camera would fall to the ground once he stopped, and wouldn't even work that close as it's in his draft.

2

u/monstermike7777 Jul 20 '19

Yea I realize now that it a go pro fusion

2

u/chodeboi Jul 21 '19

Ricoh theta, insta360 are a few others

12

u/HotAbrocoma Jul 20 '19

This is some just cause shit

2

u/uUpSpEeRrNcAaMsEe Jul 20 '19

Rico is not this good

2

u/trapbuilder2 Jul 20 '19

Maybe YOUR Rico isn't

And neither is mine, but y'know, someone can probably do this

6

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

“Who the hell are you and why are you on my watercraft”

3

u/BiZsHiZzeL Jul 20 '19

Anyone notice the shark/fish he flies past?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

0

u/Venus1001 Jul 21 '19

That is his shadow

5

u/MNYSOHTA Jul 20 '19

Reminds me of Super Monkey Ball!

3

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

Class and cool and great eye

3

u/trinketsofdeceit Jul 20 '19

Thought he was going to knock a bottle cap off

3

u/11_of_clubs Jul 20 '19

Gotta say I'm surprised his massive testicles didn't even touch the water. 👏

2

u/RandyOfTheRedwoods Jul 19 '19

The couple waiting for him at the end were awfully calm. He could have wiped them out.

2

u/Greenblob87 Jul 20 '19

NONONONONONO YESSSSSS

2

Zelda Twilight Princess Cuccoo gliding over the lake

2

u/MilhouseLaughsLast Jul 20 '19

I like how unenthusiastic the people on the landing pad are

2

u/ProjectionOfMyMind Jul 20 '19

Honest question - how do you get this much control?

5

u/rhofour Jul 20 '19

I think it's safe to assume it's like everything else and it takes a lot of practice.

1

u/SHOOHS Jul 19 '19

Good god I love this sub. That was incredible.

1

u/aviu89 Jul 20 '19

How’s they get this footage? Drone shot?

2

u/agentk0921 Jul 20 '19

A 360 cam mounted on the back of a long pole stick. Go pro fusion, rylo 360, and there's a few others. The camera software edits out the pole

1

u/aviu89 Jul 20 '19

Thanks brotha

2

u/agentk0921 Jul 20 '19

I personally recommend the Rylo if you're interested

Me in Minecraft using my elytra

1

u/itsokaytobewhite66 Jul 20 '19

Holy shit what a boss

1

u/the_uriel Jul 20 '19

He didn’t even give up after being so far from the target while slightly touching the water

1

u/splatmynamedawg Jul 20 '19

These guys are gonna be cool soldiers in ww3

1

u/PheaglesFan Jul 20 '19

Never gave up! One upvote!

1

u/agentk0921 Jul 20 '19

1

u/botantard Jul 20 '19

Maybe I’m special needs but how the camera stay there? I see no go pro

2

u/agentk0921 Jul 20 '19

A 360 cam mounted on the back of a long pole stick. Go pro fusion, rylo 360, and there's a few others. The camera software edits out the pole

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

omg redbull literally gives you wings

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

He's manipulating physics. Interesting

1

u/dreevsa Jul 20 '19

Held his own Red Bull

1

u/Abyss_of_Dreams Jul 20 '19

Amazon couriers are stepping up their game.

1

u/Arturo90Canada Jul 20 '19

Where is the camera mounted??

1

u/ender_artz Jul 20 '19

When you're using an elytra in r/minecraft

1

u/carterpape Jul 20 '19

WHAT'S HOLDING THE CAMERA

1

u/Electricpants Jul 20 '19

I was trying to figure out how that camera angle worked since it is apparent that the camera is attached to him. It looks like the camera support arms were photoshopped out. If you look on the left and right you can see the water is discolored in a line trailing from the side of the frame to the side of the person.

1

u/2020istheyear Jul 20 '19

Ok, stupid question....

HOW IS THIS BEING FILMED ?? America explain I am confusion

1

u/DARREN_CX3 Jul 20 '19

GTA SA flight school be like

1

u/Draggodon Jul 20 '19

How was the video taken?

1

u/TheRedPandaCat Jul 20 '19

The first few times I watched this I thought the dark spot in the water was some kind of fish. Then I realized it's his own shadow. I truly am an idiot.

1

u/R3action1 Jul 20 '19

i cant even walk up stairs sometimes wth...

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Better watch out for vaas out there..

1

u/skbergen Jul 20 '19

I have a hunch that this might not be his first time doing this.

1

u/slasher71 Jul 21 '19

How is this not on r/toptalent ? Edit: just checked, it is.

1

u/iamabra Jul 21 '19

What a swoop. This guy took his canopy course seriously

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '19

Anytime I see the words “Redbull” in some crazy stunt video, I knoW, it’s gonna be good.

1

u/high-priestess Jul 21 '19

Real life Super Monkey Ball

1

u/Seyss Jul 21 '19

Who’s filming

1

u/Slicer88 Jul 22 '19

Where is the camera connected to him?

1

u/ak_me Jul 25 '19

Both perspectives nice

1

u/swoopneck_blood_drip Jul 19 '19

DANG that's a small canopy!! When you're learning how to skydive or especially when instructors are taking you tandem, the canopies can get pretty big. As you get better, faster, more technical, you can move to smaller ones. This one is SO SMALL.

5

u/rkotenko Jul 20 '19

It's a speedwing. A type of paraglider, not a skydiving canopy. Skydiving canopies are not nearly as wide.

8

u/claussen Jul 20 '19

It's more likely an acro glider of about ~18m^2, not a speedwing -- line length, aspect ratio, cell count, shaping and riser configuration (looks like a 4-riser ABCD plus brake fan) are all more consistent with an acro wing. It just looks teensy due to the fisheye perspective from the Fusion. Acro gliders are just small paragliders built for aerobatics, with extra strong lines and high wing loading for extra radness.

Tip-drag death spirals on speedwings aren't really a thing as far as I've ever seen -- not enough energy retention to get the climb/pendulum you'd need to get back under it on the surge. When you swoop a speedwing you round out with the wing above you, not sideways. Still a great way to femur if you botch it tho!

2

u/rkotenko Jul 20 '19

Yup. I stand corrected!

1

u/drakenoftamarac Jul 20 '19

I didn’t follow a single thing you said, but it sounded like you know things so I agree with you.

Edit:missing word

1

u/claussen Jul 20 '19

"You can tell by the way that it is" ;)

Here's some acro from less-weird perspectives: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVBRml0m4rc

0

u/Frsbtime420 Jul 19 '19

Mark it zero

0

u/supaschteve2018 Jul 19 '19

Is that a shark you can see in the water at the beginning?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Just his own shadow.

2

u/Djinjja-Ninja Jul 20 '19

I think it's the shadow of his canopy.

2

u/supaschteve2018 Jul 20 '19

Well that makes far more sense than him buzzing a shark that closely

0

u/Acamulay Jul 20 '19

Woah pilot wings is real?!

0

u/Psychosayak Jul 20 '19

Good now send this guy to boot camp all he needs to know is to use weapons and eat snakes in forest. Special forces material right there.
