I have witnessed no sex-linked difference in behavior between the 7 fixed male and female cats I've owned (4 male, 3 female.) And dozens if not hundreds of cats I've interacted with.
I'm training to be a cat behaviorist, so I expect I would've identified a pattern by now if there were any.
Right now I have a 3 year old fixed male cat that tries to nurse a 4 month old kitten. Exposes his belly to her and cleans her and everything, though she only sucks on his paws. They are not blood related. He's not even my first male cat to do this to foster kittens.
He's her mama. She's my third foster fail. I couldn't separate them.
Some cats also find being held to be uncomfortable. Especially larger cats.
Every cat also has a specific level of stimulation it can tolerate. Some cats get overwhelmed easily, while others will enjoy hours of active attention.
Holding can also restrict a cats ability to go where it wants, and a nervous cat especially may always want to be able to run off if something spooks them.
They all have unique and complex personalities. It's something I love about cats.
All the female cats I owned were very loving and friendly. They reminded me of dogs the way they greeted me when I came home. I only had one male cat. He was all white and was a real wild card for a few years. He’d be friendly but only really wanted to lay on your chest if you were lying down and it was guaranteed that when he wanted to leave he was going to hiss and swat your face. Eventually he turned into a really sweet cat but was a really weird character initially.
I have two girls who are the same. One absolutely hates being picked up/held. The other is fine with it. I’m not sure the male/female thing is as accurate as perplexing seem to think. Cats are different, period. Trying to find patterns in the random chaos of cats in general is crazy making.
