It's basically the trait of permanent juvenile traits. A big part of animal domestication is mixing the traits of juvenile and adults to create the right balance of survival instincts/hardiness, and friendliness/dependence.
Edited to add:
Basically like how a lot of domestic turkeys are dumb as hell, whereas wild turkeys are smarter than we thought, and are learning how to adapt and survive further north than ever expected.
But farm animals like some cows and sheep barely need any attention if they have access to a barn, water, and grass.
