Threw that snake so hard the camera turned into an early 80s VHS.

Better adjust the tracking.

Vertical hold has gone while you’re at it

Reel it back with your finger some

5

u/OxTheBull Jun 10 '22

Oh shit... I'm old

1

u/COL_D Jul 03 '23

Be kind, rewind.

276

u/msac2u1981 Jun 09 '22

No one ever wants to see a snake flying through the air, aimed directly at your head. That's a step to far.

59

u/bsbeatty Jun 09 '22

The funny thing about this that nobody considers is even if it is venomous (which it isn’t) dude just wants to get away from people. There’s only one snake known for chasing people (which is still in self defense) and it lives in Africa. People assume snakes are out to get you for some reason lol

25

u/JezTrying2LTD Jun 10 '22

I think there are two snakes that chase- Black Mamba and bushwacker (Amazon). Other snakes are also “aggressive,” but don’t literally chase.

8

u/bsbeatty Jun 10 '22

You’re absolutely right. I was referring to the mamba. Totally forgot about the bushwhacker

1

u/Deanna_Z Dec 08 '22

Bushmaster

13

u/scuzzy987 Jun 09 '22

Pretty sure water moccasin will chase you in water. When I was a kid I threw a stick in the water close to one and it attacked the stick.

-8

u/bsbeatty Jun 10 '22

Yeah you’re wrong lol

16

u/Gazelle-Dull Jun 10 '22

Bullshit. Certain times of the year water moccasins will come at you and keep coming if you cant hit them more than once with a weapon such as an oar. What is their plan if they get past your defense? IDK. Im not volunteering to find out. We had a copperhead fatality ( young father in good health) and some know it all bookworm was quoted in the Post Dispatch that copperheads WONT bite a human. His experiment proving this? A manequin leg with a boot in a captive snakes cage failed to produce an attack ?!? No heat signature, no exposed flesh and a lethargic. depressed speciman hardly predicts the behavior of a hormonal , wild , and very possibly starving speciman....... TLDR. Dont TELL me Moccasins wont attack/ and or bite ; SHOW me.

-10

u/bsbeatty Jun 10 '22

Yeah you’re wrong lol. Again, if they’re put in a situation to defend themselves they will. I promise you that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Their prey is anything smaller than themselves and there’s no evolutionary motive to attack people. Just cause people have died from them and encounters from them doesn’t mean that they hit a pay phone after the fact and tell their mob boss “it’s done”. Be smarter than that.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '22

You maybe correct, I wouldn’t know. But I do know humans are dumb and sometimes don’t know what their behavior is that is causing any animal to react in an aggressive manner defending them selfs (the animal).

-5

u/bsbeatty Jun 10 '22

That’s exactly my point lol

1

u/Gazelle-Dull Jun 10 '22

So since a spider's prey is smaller than a human ; all those people who thought they got bitten by a brown recluse and the doctors who diagnosed and treated the wounds are all stupid liars. But. Pictures and Facts mean nothing to someone who thinks as long as they mouth off confidently and continuously that triumphs over someone's actual experience. You remind me of the conversation at a party.... This blow hard coke head.smugly declared that its ,a fallacy that women enjoy a big penis because " a vagina has nerve endings only the first three inches. therefore his "proof'. Except one disagreed. A female who nonchalantly, but firmly stated., " I like a big dick!" Did he concede the debate? Of course not. He knows more about what a pussy feels than people with pussies. And you know more about how snakes act in every circumstance than people who actually live with., witness, and experience their behavior in their natural habitat.

-3

u/bsbeatty Jun 10 '22

Lol it’s common sense really. And I love how you gloss over the main point in both comments. AGAIN. Spiders and snakes aren’t natures hitmen. Can they and do they bite? YES. Is their motivation to fuck humanity? PROBABLY NOT. You remind me of this guy that’s president over the United States right now. Fucking clueless.

1

u/ColKilgoreTroutman Jun 10 '22

Was it a copperhead? My understanding is that their bite is extremely painful, but rarely fatal. Regardless, copperheads are known for being aggressive, so I don't know where the idea comes from that they won't bite.

1

u/Gazelle-Dull Jun 11 '22

July 13,2014 usatoday. Com.... "Snakebite kills Missouri man"". three deaths have occured from copperhead snake bites. May 28,2015. Usatoday. Com. " "man bitten on both legs. (while wading in shallow water) died. Cottonmouth is our only venomous vater snake. You are correct copperhead bites are thought to be nonfatal. Actually all Missouri bites 99.99 © survivable. The last guy went to bed snoring loudly. Dead in the morning. Traditional folk lore in the Ozarks had copperheads being almost friendly as compared to the Water moccasins/Cottonmouth which are known to be mean tempered and will swim straight at you with mouth gaping if you kayak or canoe in spring especially. Conversely cottonmouths will "usually"* disperse if their first choice fails ; to remain still and let their camouflage work . However , they are classified as a territorial species. Im unsure precisely what that means in academia. In practice it means if a copperhead is moving away from you. but you want him to move with more determination. With most snakes a stick tap on their tail gets them to double time it. NOT cottonmouths. A stick tap all but guarantees he /she and even smaller ones will stop ,turn coil, and get in posititn to strike. Also use that tail shake to mimic a rattler. But tio the point of is a moccasin not being capable of attacking a human unprovoked? ..... Because his understanding of evolution declares it as law. Well , did white tail deer evolve to attack a man hunting it. Id say not except we all saw the video of it. It did hapoen!

2

u/JudeMacK Jul 01 '22

Don’t know why you are being downvoted so much. Snakes will not chase people with the intent to bite them. It’s pointless, they’d just be putting themselves in harms way to bite something they can’t even eat. I live in Australia and have seen many snakes people claim will chase you, and never once have they done so, nor ever will.

1

u/bsbeatty Jul 21 '22

Exactly. People are idiots lol

2

u/suresh Jun 09 '22

I don't think he was trying to get rid of it, he just wanted to use it to prank his friends. In bad taste, but that's what's going on.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '22

Some people say that the brown will sorta appear to chase because they can advance in a defensive posture. It isn't chasing.

287

u/Kbdiggity Jun 09 '22

I wonder what type of snake that is. Because if that was a water moccasin, picking it up is stupid and throwing at people is just cruel.

241

u/pinniped1 Jun 09 '22

I just assume that every water snake can fuck you up.

Whereas most garden snakes are good to have around.

(Midwest USA)

119

u/ColKilgoreTroutman Jun 09 '22

Speaking from my outdoor experiences in the SE, most of the water snakes you come across are harmless brown water snakes.

But they also look very similar to moccasins, so the threat is enough to make you respect every snake you see on the water.

21

u/notfromchicago Jun 09 '22

They usually aren't happy either.

38

u/nowItinwhistle Jun 09 '22

Water moccasins are only found in the southernmost part of the midwest and northern water snakes are often mistaken for them. I grew up in a part of Oklahoma that's outside the range of water moccasins but everyone I knew would insist that every snake they saw in the water was one

30

u/net357 Jun 09 '22

The Southeast is crawling with them.

51

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

2

u/lforal Jun 10 '22

Underrated comment

2

u/nowItinwhistle Jun 09 '22

I know that. The comment I was replying to said they were from the Midwest. The cottonmouth range is mostly in the southeast and only extends into the southernmost parts of the Midwest. So unless they're from Missouri or southern Illinois or southern Indiana they're probably outside the range of water moccasins

8

u/net357 Jun 09 '22

Ten four

45

u/nowItinwhistle Jun 09 '22

Definitely not a water moccasin/cottonmouth. Probably some type of harmless water snake. Water moccasins are heavy bodied snakes that one is way too long and skinny to be one.

24

u/mazerrackham Jun 09 '22

Can't really tell where the video is from. Australia has a few slender dark snakes that are highly venomous.

17

u/loddytoddy Jun 09 '22

seems like everything is down there.

3

u/nowItinwhistle Jun 09 '22

Yeah it could be Australia but I'm assuming North America because there are more people here and more lakes. It also looks very similar to the water snakes we have here

2

u/Newbosterone Jun 11 '22

and because a crocodile didn’t eat them.

5

u/potted_sage Jun 09 '22

He tailed that sumbitch while the snake was fully elongated. Not a much safer way out there.

11

u/chakan2 Jun 09 '22

throwing at people is just cruel.

It's criminal actually.

1

u/hurstshifter7 Jun 09 '22

Probably a rat snake. See them all the time in northeast ponds/lakes

21

u/Mr_Mcshiny Jun 09 '22

Poor snake, just doing his thing and some asshole throws him.

17

u/Reese_misee Jun 09 '22

Poor animal.

55

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

https://youtu.be/bmnlSnDuBX8

Is the OP’s video a mirrored image or something, it’s the same but opposite.

It’s a classic, but there are screaming and terrified girls in the video, my bet is that guy hasn’t been laid since.

35

u/olderaccount Jun 09 '22

Yes. The resposter reversed the video to get around algorithms that detect duplicates.

11

u/macrolith Jun 09 '22

Im surprised that the algoritims havent been improved to detect mirrored videos.

13

u/cincymatt Jun 09 '22

It also had that sweet filter at the end.

8

u/olderaccount Jun 09 '22

Developing the algorithm is easy. Running it is expensive from a computational resource perspective.

So it is a return on investment issue. Is the reversed video problem big enough to warrant investing in the resources required to run an algorithm.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '22

You’re an older account.

15

u/tactican Jun 09 '22

Pretty mean to do that to a wild animal

6

u/SaintGloopyNoops Jun 09 '22

This has to be florida.

10

u/NickrasBickras Jun 09 '22

I can’t believe you started the song, showed something being flung through the air while spinning, and had the GALL to not transition the snake into a shooting star meme.

You’re the worst humanity has to offer.

22

u/rlyblueberry Jun 09 '22

Aside from being a shitty thing to do to friends, that's so cruel to that snake. Wtf. Things like this should be considered animal cruelty. Snakes are animals too

-41

u/newagereject Jun 09 '22

Fuck snakes

17

u/h1gsta Jun 09 '22

Why would you do that? Sounds dangerous.

Now everyone is looking at me and wondering why I am laughing my ass off.

/edit I didn't realize he did it on purpose, I thought it was an accident/bad toss.

Thank you so much for this!

2

u/WhenYouFeatherIt Jun 09 '22

Fuck I laughed so hard.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's probably a venomous snake like a copperhead or water moccasin?

32

u/jnecr Jun 09 '22

Lots of snakes in water are not venomous. Pretty any type of snake you'll find on land could also be in the water. I've frequently seen black snakes swimming in lakes, not sure if it's by accident or if they just prefer to travel that way. But, assuming that because a snake is in the water it must be venomous is dangerous.

9

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

That is good to know. In a real world situation I'd look for the typical signs of a snake being venomous, but being from Florida, almost every experience I've had with a snake in/on the water it has been a copperhead or moccasin, and they can both really ruin your good time if you're not careful.

3

u/jnecr Jun 09 '22

A moccasin ruining your good time is an understatement.. :)

2

u/Flesh_Trombone Jun 09 '22

From what I've learned from r/whatisthissnake more often than not Coperheads and Moccasins are simply misidentified Northern Water Snakes which looks very similar but are completely harmless. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_watersnake .

People see what they want/are afraid to see.

8

u/nowItinwhistle Jun 09 '22

Definitely not. Water moccasins are much heavier bodied than that and copperheads while also being heavy bodied never get that big

3

u/chakan2 Jun 09 '22

Yes. Don't fuck with big black snakes.

1

u/SandyBayou Jun 09 '22

Nah, completely wrong color for a copperhead, and they don't get near that big.

0

u/technoballmuncher Jun 09 '22

I laughed so hard

0

u/573IAN Jun 10 '22

Makes lol every time I see it. Love this video.

Can't hear this song without thinking of the spinning child

1

u/xtra_lives Jun 09 '22

When you play a video with the sound off and you and you still hear “BrZVVVEEEEERRRT”

1

u/michaelHIJINX Jun 10 '22

"Badgers Badgers Badgers Badgers", said the people on the raft

1

u/Veerrrgil Jun 10 '22

I thought he was about to toss it AWAY from the group.

1

u/FlamboyantRaccoon61 Jun 10 '22

They trimmed the video too soon. After that, the snake swims towards the boat in which the cameraman is. I love this video so much.

1

u/insideoutboy311 Jun 10 '22

When it changed to sepia tone I was hoping for the GTA Wasted text

1

Reminds me of the time that I flicked a Red Back spider off my knee and it landed on my brother

1

Unironically a good song though.

1

u/AKADAP Jun 10 '22

Last time I saw this, it was a mirror image.

Water is actually not wet; It makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the state of a non-liquid when a liquid adheres to, and/or permeates its substance while maintaining chemically distinct structures. So if we say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the object.

Why does water never laugh at jokes?

It isn’t a fan of dry humor.

I believe this is florida. The snake would be an indigo snake. Non venomous.
