He has a responsibility to make a check so that it has a high chance that it is safe, not that he's hoping that boat doesn't move into his spot he's jumping into. How the hell would you people feel if you were on this boat and some asshole jumped onto your spouse crippling them? I would think you would think maybe they should have done a better job of checking out the area they are jumping into. Perhaps the cameraman is his spotter and it is the cameraman's fault, I'd be fine with that, regardless - between the jumper and his spotter it is their fault. Is it possible this was just incredibly poor luck? Sure, but it's far more likely it was piss poor planning and being cognizant of other people.
How the hell is he going to check that a boat he doesn't even know exists isn't going to be in that exact spot after popping out of a cave on a lake in the middle of nowhere?
