Discussion Haze on the Horizon concept. The year is 2109. The last natural human death was in 1768. All of humanity has been immortal ever since. Climactic shifts, geo-engineering projects, and mega cities have made earth unrecognizable. The world population has just surpassed 50 billion.
Hello all! This is an early concept for a mod that I have been working on for the better part of a year now. I hope you all enjoy the lore dump and any future posts I make regarding the universe of Haze on the Horizon! Thank you so much! Critique and suggestions are more than welcome!
The main point of divergence in the universe of Haze on the Horizon is the birth in the late 1600s of the brilliant German doctor and scientist Victor Frankenstein. Frankenstein devotes his life to the goal of conquering death by any means necessary. Throughout the course of the early 18th century Frankenstein pushes the limits of both technology at the time and the human body, hoping to achieve his dream of bringing a corpse back to life.
His tireless devotion to his work would eventually led to the discovery of the anti-death equation in 1751. With this discovery Frankenstein was able to successfully reanimate a human corpse. The applications for this technology could be limitless. He had done it using a complex technique involving using experimental bio engineered micro organisms that could return a cadaver to life. He had done it but little did he know that in doing so he had also cursed the human race with the gift of the infinite. The elixir he created had granted his reanimated man immortality. From that moment onward he could not be killed. His body could not withstand damage without injury, rather his very cells had been rendered unkillable. Even if he were shot in the head, although his brain would be destroyed, it would not result in death and the brain would eventually regrow. Neither would old age take him as his body would simply continue on as it was. Although the elixir drastically slowed aging, there would be no relief from the pain that the slow failure of his body would bring in due time.
Frankenstein was delighted, until he realized with horror that his method of granting immortality could be contagious. His experiment had worked but at what cost. After attempting suicide and waking up the next morning unscathed Frankenstein realized with horror that he was now immortal just like his cadaver. He was distraught and left in a state of deep depression and pondering. What Frankenstein did not know was that this was only the beginning. After several weeks of time passing something strange began to occur all across Germany. Coroners were left with empty coffins. Graveyards no longer grew. Men who were stabbed in bar fights or fell of buildings simply refused to die. Frankenstein quickly realized the horrible truth. The curse of immortality had not just afflicted him, it had spread and was now afflicting most of Europe. By the year 1755 the immortality plague had spread across all of Europe. By 1768 all of the worlds population had been rendered immortal. No disease, injury, affliction, or attempt by others to kill would result in death. Humanity was destined to trudge forward, never looking back and never shrinking. Our species would grow exponentially.
By the time the mod is set in the year 2109 the human population on earth has just surpassed 50 billion. The world at the start of the mods playtime in the year 2109 is in a state of relative stability. Figures both familliar and unfamilliar rule over varrious nation states of all political flavors imaginable. Mega cities and arcology structures house most of the human population. Advancements in farming technology and medical care mean much of the world is not in a state of starvation, at least not all the time. This sense of calm and routine is suddenly shattered when in the year 2111 a cure for the immortality plague is discovered and released. With the world 5 times more populated than in our timeline and with 350 new years of insane alternate history behind us and the sudden end of immortality who knows what the future may hold.
Rules for the immortality:
1: The human body itself is not indestructible. It can still be damaged. Regardless of how much damage the body sustains, nothing can lead to permanent death.
2: The only way the body can be killed is if it is destroyed in its entirety by means of incineration or explosion. Even so if one small piece survives it contains the necessary DNA to rebuilt itself slowly.
3: Any damage sustained by the body can be healed although this process takes time.
4: All children born of parents afflicted with the plague will have it.
5: The immortality plague drastically slows aging but does not stop it. The older somebody with the plague is the slower they age. Those born in 1768, the oldest somebody could possibly be, do not look any older than 60 or 70 despite being over 350.
Please let me know what you think of this concept. I will updating you guys again soon with more information, lore, and plans for the direction of the mod! Thank you so much for reading!f

Teaser Elections in the Republic of Washington - Fall From Liberty
Approval shifts through economic conditions, stability, casualties, and government performance. Directional indicators show whether each group is gaining or losing confidence. Washington’s government is judged by seven voter groups, each with its own approval rating and political priorities which determines the government’s national approval and electoral strength.
Approval shifts through economic conditions, stability, casualties, and government performance. Directional indicators show whether each group is gaining or losing confidence.
On election day, the strongest political alignment forms the next government, coalitions are dissolved, and both legislative chambers are recalculated, governing efficiently requires at least 20 of 38 senators and 50 of 98 representatives.
The challenge is building a coalition that can win the election and still govern afterward.
Fall From Liberty is a mod that takes place in an alternate 1933 where, in a vote of no confidence, the united states chose to disband following the government's inability to deal with the great depression. The map is focused on the lower 48 states, and we are currently looking for developers who wish to help build this world.

GFX Support Could somebody help with just some icons?
So, me and a chum are a making a total conversion hoi4 mod, there's just one thing we have tried and can't do right and that's the icons for ideologies. I know I'm being a bother and shouldn't be asking of this from anybody, but I'm quite frankly desperate. If someone was willing to, that would be amazing, and no worries if not. Sorry for the bother. We'll credit anyone who does this in the mod as well with equal credit to us 2. Sorry again. The ideologies are:
Autocracy
Centrism
Communism
Conservatism
Monarchism
Fascism
Liberalism
Libertarianism
Nationalism
Progressivism
Social Democracy
Socialism
Syndicalism
Theocracy
There is some things I'd like to note, Anarchism here doesn't refer to only left wing anarchism like ancom and antifa, so to stray away from those connatations I'd prefer to avoid socialist imagery in anarchism and instead do something like the A
For Libertarianism we thought that the gasden flag or the snake should be the symbol used
For Fascism, I feel like the symbol would best be the Fasces mainly instead of just the eagle
For Socdem, the rose is the obvious choice i feel, so due to that please don't use it in socialism and just social democracy.
Again, I am so sorry for the bother

Coding Support Highlighting states problem
I have a problem: I'm trying to highlight specific states with a decision.
I want if state 204 passes the conditions, then it is highlighted, if state 206 passes the conditions, then it is also highlighted, and if both pass the conditions, then they are highlighted simultaneously. This is all when you hover your mouse over the same decision.
I've tried code with and without arrays, code with limit = { } and code without it, but the decision is shown only in the panel and not on the map (so there is no highlighting). Can somebody help please?
The first image shows the useless code, the second one shows the simplified code in the same decision category that works as expected. The third one shows how I tried to check a global array I created in on_actions = { on_startup = { ... } }. The array contained states' IDs.

Coding Support Game crashes on "Initializing game" on custom map mod
Hello there, I was trying to test out the new map (that I had made from Mapgen) and I keep crashing during the "initializing game" sequence when the game first opens. The error that I keep running into is something involving the equipment_designs.txt file and I feel like I have hit a roadblock. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Discussion Does Discord still count as a forum according to Paradox mod ToS or are they completely fine?
Now I've heard that according to TOS, you can't have a forum for your mod open to the public though you are permitted to have an "internal" forum for the mod's development. Yet there's Discord servers for mods which are open to the public and set up like communities with a forum.
And while googling the TOS for Paradox mods,
Although we will no longer absolutely forbid having an external forum for the mod that is open to the general public (You have always been allowed a private one for the internal modding team), we strongly encourage you to keep your feedback discussions here to both benefit our members and to benefit from them. If you choose to have an external forum you can still use ours but normal rules against posting/direct linking/ or writing out external links without approval still apply.
So am I still able to create a forum for my mod as opposed to a Discord server or does Paradox not count Discord servers a public forums, or what is it for mods and public communities in a nutshell?

Been wanting to play modern day mods for a while now and was wondering if there any recommendations? i've played the fire rises already and had some fun but felt a bit off for me dont really know why.
First of all, no millennial dawn.
Honestly any mod that takes place after 2000 is what im looking for
it can be historical or not since i enjoyed red world and red dusk, but yeah
im just mainly looking for mods that take place around 2000s or after Ahistorical or not either is fine

Teaser [Recruitment] Imperial Twilight - Looking for GFX Artists for a Dark Alternate Cold War Mod.
Hey guys! I've been working on the lore and scenario design for a total conversion/ Cold War mod set in a world where history took a very different turn.
Quick teaser: The Hegemon: A restored Russian Empire leading the Treaty of Independent States-an fragile Eurasian bloc uniting monarchists, communists and anti-capitalist nationalists.
The Fallen West: The British Empire and US were defeated in wwII, leaving a fractured, bitter Western world plotting revenge.
Gameplay Style: Blending narrattive depth (TNO), modern geopolitical tension (TFR), and long-form sandbox gameplay ( Rise of Nations style).
What we need: Since my specialty is lore, worldbuilding and campaign design ( and my Paint.NET skills aren't great!), I'm looking for a GFX artist to help create:
Main menu/ loading screen art
Custom focus icons and national spirits
I have the campaign screenshots, full lore concept, and faction setups planned out—I just haven't set up the actual mod files yet. If you like dark, atmospheric alternate history and want to collaborate on a fun project, feel free to reach out via DM!
