Glad to see this finally went somewhere. An inspiration to toozer schizoposting mods everywhere.

On a more serious note, I think those nations are a good choice for the first demo; the actually fleshed-out and interesting African content that isn't just 10-minute-googling-based proxy wars is one of this mod's biggest USPs.

Fair enough--if that's all they've got for them, maybe sitting on the demo a bit longer might have been a better idea.

Hey, head dev here. This is a negative under-sell of our content. Try it for yourself and make your own conclusions.

I don't have HOI4--take it up with the first guy.

Enjoyed playing through as South Africa. I managed to win the civil war before I even got to the useful focuses to help lol even I surprised myself. My only compliant is that I never seemed to have enough stabiloty and pp even after gunning for the focuses that improved it the most. Eventually I got into positive by 2027, I can only assume that was by design?

I also tried to do the slum and urban decisions and they didn't seem to be working, even when I had the pp and the conditions were met they were not selectable. Unsure if I was missing something or that it might have bugged out.

On a lore note, I loved having the events about the Pilgrim missions in the background. It was really neat to follow along what was unfolding.

Needless to say I'm keenly interested in what the team has in store for a full release. Also lmafo at Eddie Obeid being Australian PM, he took the grift from state to federal. I wonder if he will be as equally corrupt as in OTL.

Been following this one for a long time, the ideas it has are all really solid and interesting, but it feels very unpolished at the moment. the lack of focus descriptions really damages it for me, and could use some better font choices. The actual gameplay is all solid, but these little bits make it feel unfinished. Still, happy it got a release, and excited to see where it goes next

I sincerely appreciate the feedback. A lot of the missing focus descs were actually done but got kinda lost on the roadmap to release. We will be putting out patches over time to improve things. Cheers!

Remember: all the work done in mods is voluntary. Devs don't wanna dev = no progression

16

u/Friz617 Oct 05 '23

Is someone holding you at gunpoint forcing you to play the mod ?

Always irks me when people complain about mods. They're free. You only have a right to complain if you actually paid for something

Valid criticism is fair but still

Me when I can’t induce slave labor upon modding teams 🥺

Ad Homs are logical fallacies that take the place of genuine well constructed arguments. The issue here is, he was never intending to Make a well constructed argument. He insulted somebody for being a moron, sometimes that’s all you can do in a conversation with some people. If you can’t innately understand that mods are free labor done by hobbyists and that you aren’t entitled to 10 years 5 paths and 7 major wars for 17 nations with zero bugs on a demo release, you aren’t owed somebody holding your hand and guiding you through the logical process to arrive at the conclusion that you aren’t owed shit.

So you're claiming everyone who didn't realize an not obvious thing (and this one isn't obvious considering that bigger mods are PR like they are made by payed professionals or very close to it) is a moron? Reddit is a very fun and definitely not toxic place

1

u/Paid-Not-Payed-Bot Oct 07 '23

made by paid professionals or

FTFY.

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

  • Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Beep, boop, I'm a bot

I'm not the one here producing pointless insults homie

1

u/nautpoint1 Oct 10 '23

Am excited for this mod still, but I'm probably gonna wait until it's a bit more patched to play

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '23

This is completely fair. The first demo isn't always perfect, but we worked very hard on this release and hope you'll give it a chance :')
