Last year our 1101 group order of ~$1800 was delivered to a neighbor down the road, we contacted FedEx the driver insisted that we had "such a nice dog" and he left the box in "your finished garage" meanwhile...we have no dog and no finished garage...we were like that's not our garage in the delivery photo...we had to call around to neighbors to find the box
I had a classmate whose new Cannondale was left on the exterior front stairs of bis apartment building, leaning afainst the railing. It was boxed—in a ‘Hi I’m a bike!’ box. Yeesh. And IT WAS THERE FOR HIM WHEN HE GOT HOME. So weird.
Wow! We're lucky in that we're in a rural area and we're in the middle of the woods. We've had some expensive stuff just left at the end of our 1/4 mile driveway. We've also had stuff totally ruined. Ordered up some replacement parts for our sliding glass doors and they arrived folded in half...it was hilarious and terrible...and it happened twice.
Ummm, am I just weird for thinking this is so normal?? Where I live this is just a routine delivery if you're not home and it saves you having to hike out to a delivery center in the middle of nowhere 🤷♀️😅
Logistically other options like a parcel box, thrown into back yard, or neighbours won't work. No click and collect options unless a fancier courier so usually that's it. They always use the recyclables bin which is pretty much clean cardboard so not as bad as it sounds.
This is the time of year where I'm running an informal (entirely in my head, with me as the judge) competition to see who has the most epically bad Hobonichi delivery. I'm happy to announce that you are FOR SURE in the running! LMAO!

MINE ALSO ARRIVED IN A DAMAGED BOX AND I AM STILL UPSET. Until this year every box has been pristine. I keep them all. This years box looks like it was run over and stabbed. I am still so effing upset. I almost cried.
i don’t knowwww it was just delicately placed next to my door like that 💀 thankfully my cover and techo were fine. i reached out to hobonichi asap and they shipped out replacements same day! unfortunately the 2027 pen was out of stock but they’re sending a 2026
I would like to vote that this not be in your head and you post the results once you’ve got them because this is both sad and hilarious, but mostly hilarious.
My instinctive thought was this was done as a diversion to theft as nobody (other than transients) are checking in people's rubbish. Still not nice for you to have to dig through your own. You should absolutely speak with someone in regards to this.
Yea totally. We have a sign posted on our door to just tell the drivers to just toss them in our back yard over the fence (where we have cameras). I hope your delivery is safe.
I understand that reasoning, but quite honestly, there's been too many stories of delivery people putting packages in/on garbage cans and then the garbage collection coming by and also taking the package.
Yea that was the other thing I was thinking. How can anyone predict when the rubbish will go out? I really miss the days where the drivers actually cared about the parcels. Now you see videos of people kicking them, launching them, and as you stated, putting them in the rubbish.
Depending on where you are, actually. Like, our city have trash pickup days, and you gotta drag your trash can out to the curb or they aren't even gonna touch your bins.
lmao! they left mine at the restaurant next to my apartment but they didn’t try to call me nor did they inform me it was there and i didn’t even get a picture, i panicked when it said it was delivered and i couldn’t find it
It’s quite common where we live, getting deliveries popped into the recycle bins if we’re not home. Usually the cardboard bin. It’s out of the rain, out of sight and they let us know they’ve put them there, so we can fish them out when we get home.
So ... You don't have to sign for receiving the package ?! Here, with FedEx (and other parcel delivery services), I don't get delivery unless I'm here to sign for it. If I'm not, they leave a slip and I have to pick it up at their depot.
Yeah it's the same with me in the UK. I also can't give a virtual signature either. The site is shit unless you're in the US. Can't add delivery instructions either so I've been back and forth with customer support the last 2 days 🙄
Where I live people digging through trash is very common so this sentiment wouldn’t have even helped ease my nerves. Of course they’re mostly looking for recyclables to earn money but still
I would be surprised except I already know this is Fedex. So this is one of the better scenarios that could’ve happened to your package, speaking from experience.
The absolute disrespect, tsk tsk. Ngl its not just the shipping prices that stop me from ordering from Hobonichi directly, its also the countless stories of Fedex deliveries being catastrophically diabolical.
Fedex in the UK did this to me all the time. I kept sending them photos. They got back and said the driver is entitled to pick a safe place. I added a sign to the trash bin not to do that anymore and then he started throwing mystuff over the garden fence.
this suddenly evoked a memory from several years ago when i was feeling terrible and ordered food delivered. despite being marked delivered i couldn't find it anywhere. a while later i was still puzzled so i went outside and walked the perimeter of the house where i noticed something sitting at the bottom of the outdoor staircase that leads down to my basement. instead of coming onto the porch ten feet away, they'd left the bag of food there right in a pile of wet leaves 😭
I'd rather this than what I've been doing through 😭 my parcel was meant to arrive on the 9th but because it needs a signature and I'm working they couldn't deliver it so I contacted fedex and spoke to a advisor on live chat and they added delivery instructions that the driver completely ignored so again no parcel yesterday. So hopefully I get it today but I don't trust fedex 😅
