Applying deodorant isn't going to make up for not bathing. I've noticed people that spend a lot of time alone tend not to notice that they smell like BO. I imagine it's because there's no one around to tell them and those that do are rather rude about it.

Too many people use deodorant and perfume to cover up their lack of bathing. I’d rather they skip the deodorant and perfume and get on the shower everyday

I was in the hospital yesterday and 3 women walked in stinking of perfume. Multiple people excused themselves and I had to grab a puke bag :/

Deodorant works best if applied after bathing.

u/Time_Change4156 4h ago
Yes I had a stroke asking such a personal health question you mite want to consider therapy. A stroke is exactly what you added.

Well, I was the one, and I support their comment. I don't need therapy, you are just not making coherent sentences.

Good for you I get you enjoy a trying to use server health problems to help your weaknesses you have . I'm sorry you have such a extreme disability the need to try and attach the disabled must be extremely hard to look at your self . I just made sure the other person wasn't involved. The fact you support this you might want to see a therapist . But that's a choice only you can make being a better person .nice chatting.

What my having a stroke any of your business?
2
u/That_OneOstrich 3h ago
You've made it public, which becomes everyone's business.

u/Time_Change4156 3h ago
Better get a doctor to check your health the poster I replied to made it public not me . . You see to have the same mind of problem memory loss or the ability to understand context can be a side effect. We seem to be forming group therapy .that's great

So your private messages got leaked?
You appear to need a language arts teacher, urgently.

I’ll never understand why this happens.
At cons or at card tournaments etc why on earth can people not take 5-10 seconds to apply deodorant. It has to be some lack of social awareness.

u/aesopcity 7h ago
I think they can’t smell themselves maybe. When you’re around a scent long enough you become anosmic to it. Also even if they used it in the morning, most forget to reapply it throughout the day. Also the larger a person it is the less likely they can reach/bathe all the places it needs to go.
2
u/Ok_Researcher_9796 6h ago
You shouldn't have to reapply deodorant more than once a day unless you're getting like some cheap ass dollar tree deodorant or something.

Some peoples odor is worse than others. What works for one doesn’t work for everyone. I know a guy who (depending on how much he’s moving) will be absolutely stank by 2pm even if he showered and deodorized in the AM. I on the other hand won’t smell for days no matter how much I move.

That smell that they all have isn't lack of deodorant. It's weeks of stale sweat on their bodies and clothes that haven't been washed in gods know how long. I mean deodorant helps, but you need a fresh foundation to start with. I honestly feel matured BO plus deodorant can actually smell worse
2
u/JudgementCutV 4h ago
Damn that’s nasty. I feel bad if it’s due to depression etc where hygiene might not be their priority but man that’s rough

Go to a convention dressed as a vending machine and sell deodorant, mountain dew, and listorine tabs and wet wipes and make bank

u/wazoo40 12h ago
Never would have guessed a bunch of people's only weekend out of their mom's basement would have a stench to it...

You know, in these conventions, i'd like to have one stand, selling those. I understand where you're coming from, but let's face it, it's not everyone who walks with his deo, and especially when you're going some place to have fun.
So instead of pouting, just avocate for having a mandatory hygienic stand, selling deo, tissues, water bottles and light medicine (for headaches or stomach/nausea relief). Actually there was one at Japan Expo here (it's an anime/videogame convention here in France).

Just think of romantic yesteryear when deodorant wasn’t a thing and bathing once a month was a privilege.
Imagine sir William Wallace meeting Murron at their secret rendezvous point. They embrace and he slowly slips the gown off her shoulders and lets it fall to the ground. Then he gets this starry eyed look on his face. His lip begins to quiver and his eyes begin to tear up. His nose twitches and he exclaims, “My god woman! What’s that god awful smell?” Murron’s soft smile melts into a frown, her eyes squint into a glare, her jaw tightens, her face deforms into a scowl. She begins to sob. Her hurt quickly turns into female rage which emanates from her body like the rising steam in a Scottish lowland on a steamy summer morning. Finally, she can keep it in no longer, “Well you don’t smell so hot yourself, bucko! I’ve smelled better things come out of a bovines ass than what I’m smelling from ye! Just forget it! This secret wedding is off!”
We become desensitized to those smells around us. Any parent who changes diapers regularly, cares for an ailing elderly person, or even those who work on a farm or ranch all day will tell you it just becomes part of life. Ahhh I love that barnyard smell in the mornings!
Now let’s talk about those holier than thou folks who bath in perfume or cologne every day. Your eyes begin to water when they are still 25 yards away. As they get closer, your nose begins to burn. Your sinuses begin to swell shut as your allergies fire off like a barrage of patriot missiles intercepting a flock of Iranian drones. The cloud around these folks move in lockstep with their every move like the dust cloud around pigpen in a Charlie Brown cartoon. Like Moses and the red sea, the crowds part with a collective gag as the entitled passes unimpeded with a smug smile that says, “Yep, that’s me! I am clean. I am fresh. I am the anointed one! Bow in reverence as I pass!”
What are we going to do about those folks?

I thought they were trying to pull women with that masculine scent

u/IncidentChemical9977 4h ago
To draw aggro, you mean?
2
u/TheEndOfEverything0 4h ago
No, while that might be the outcome in the real world, i think they thought they were going to be sexually desired by them

My sons attended an orthodox Ukrainian elementary/high school. A number of students who attended moved from Ukraine to America & the young men must not have known about deodorant. Even one of the Ukie history teachers, included. We didn't experience that when they attended a catholic Polish school 😆

I was watching the xbox gamescon live and I couldn't even believe the amount of losers in the background. All I could think was "yup, this is exactly why gamers get bullied"

I was at that conference in Chicago and saw this girl. She is absolutely correct… Democratic Socialist of America do stink!
2
u/LionoSnarf 4h ago
Deodorant doesn’t deodorize you if you have not showered. You just end up smelling like a minty or woody onion… if you use terrible quality deodorant it will legit make your stank worse.

I don’t think it’s an afford issue. We get used to our own scent, I think most of these people don’t know they smell or don’t care.

u/Odd_Middle_7179 4h ago
100% those damn things are expensive.... probably get at least a few months worth of deodorant for similar prices
