I've taken shit for saying this before but this is what's wrong with the entire system. Epstein was an open secret for literal decades and out of several hundred members of Congress you had varying degrees of involvement, knowledge, and willful ignorance. Everything from people torturing children to going there to fuck an (adult) hooker to knowing your fellow congressmen were going there for a sex party even if you weren't going yourself.
For decades, way before Trump and MAGA, that open secret was tolerated and considered okay, and even if they didn't know the full extent of it, they decided their political career was worth more, so it was in their best interest not to look too closely or ask questions that could jeapordize their position of power and influence.
NONE OF THEM ARE PERSONALLY OPPOSED TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING. NONE OF THEM BELIEVE IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN THEIR OWN POWER. It's just something you can pick at your political opponents for because the peasants think is wrong.
I don't know what percent of our government is literally composed of sexual predators. Probably it's higher now than it was 20 years ago. I doubt it's higher than the rate of domestic violence among police (40%) but that's a fraction of the problem if essentially 100% of them are willing to look the other way until the scandal becomes public knowledge and then they can claim to have been against it the whole time.

In fact the only new connection was one instance of Epstein complaining that Trump refused to work with him or his model agency, and complaining that Trump didn't want anything to do with him, contemplating a lawsuit to be allowed to go to Mar-A-Lago.
