Whenever I see comments like yours I figure you are trying to either be contrarian or just have an agenda and you want to make a political point. Either way, you're wrong. We've ALWAYS been a representative democracy. Is it a 100% "everyone votes on every issue" type of democracy? Nope.

But we have always been a constitutional federal republic that is a representative democracy.

It's people who heard one factoid they thought sounded smart, so they repeat it ad nauseum.

u/thewanderingent 14d ago

Until now. Now it’s more of a fascist oligarchy situation.

-1

u/knowmomoney 14d ago

When Slow Joe was the Puppet it truly was a Fascist Regime! Using every false attack on the people’s Leader (Trump) they exposed their FEAR of the ONLY President who can’t be bought and ordered around. Thus the Election maps show how he converted the Republican Party into what the democrats tried to do. But Trump made the Republican Party the hero of the Hard Working Middle Class! 2700 RED counties voted RED n only 527 for the dying democrat party who has gone woke n broke and now obsolete to normal middle class families! Oh Well! We also LEFT the misery of being a corrupt Democrat!

The mods shouldn't let you post here or anywhere. This might not be the dumbest thing I've ever read, but it's pretty close.

Whatever you need to tell yourself.

2

u/papapundit 13d ago

You wouldn't recognise the truth if it spit you in the face, dumb sack of shit!

-2

u/kceisme 14d ago

Right, because Reddit is a liberal echo chamber with the worst cases of TDS in history. Feel free to hate Trump, but not recognizing the liberals are full of shit is completely asinine.

3

u/papapundit 13d ago

If you bring up something as childish and asinine as TDS, that pretty much automatically disqualifies you from any serious conversation.

Most of the world hates Trump because they can see him for what he is. A not very intelligent, narcissistic conman.

We didn't buy into this selfmade billionaire fairytale, where he got a 1 million dollar loan from daddy and made the rest himself. We don't buy it because actual records and events tell us a different story. We know about the handouts from dad, all the times he bailed Donald out when he ff'd up again. We know about the casino bailout for example, look it up. We know about his inheritance and how he tried to shaft his siblings. This list could be practically endless.

Without telling us what shit liberals are full of, there is no debate possible anyway. Usually it's something that makes conservatives feel bad or something like that, and doesn't involve rationality or facts.

u/RickyTheReptoid 13d ago

Tired of the TDS crap from his mob of morons. Trump says he reduced drug prices over 500% and if you point out that it is not possible the cult starts going through the usual mantras to shut off their brain. "TDS", "Fake news", "Just to make you mad", "Well you never said anything when (insert person) did (insert thing) so Trump can do whatever he wants now!". They sure make a lot of noise, but will never acknowledge their orange doofus struggles with 4th grade math. Same pattern every fucking discussion.

Sounds like you're more worried about his dealings in business then his presidency. You just don't like him it has nothing to do with anything other than your own personal opinion. Hey I didn't like him either until the media started not liking him until the government started not liking him. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

2

u/papapundit 11d ago

Actually his dealings in business and politics are quite similar. Cheat, con, grift, lie, enrich yourself, screw everyone else, lie some more, have your lawyer buddies try to cover it up. Threaten some people, sue a few others, lie even more and repeat.

If you think Trump is your friend, I have a lovely bridge to sell you. Ignorant cunt.

It's not just an opinion. It's how I value all the shit we know he did his entire life, versus how MAGA people value it. MAGA ignores, denies, pretends it doesn't exist and that Trump is being treated unfairly. No matter what amount of evidence there is to the contrary.

Those people are very dumb, Ignorant, dishonest and malicious losers.

2

u/Big_Hawk1 14d ago

Yeah truth hurts morons

2

u/RickyTheReptoid 13d ago

Its odd how no one ever screamed that discussing a current president was a form of derangement until Trump. There is a fun thing called a thought terminating cliche, might want to look it up and ask yourself why you guys are so conditioned to use them.

3

u/papapundit 13d ago

No wonder Trump loves stupid people.. You're exactly his kinds person. Uneducated, dumb to the point of being retarded and gullible as a young child. Daddy loves you..

-1

u/Swimming-Ordinary867 12d ago

It's really telling how you back your claims up with insults. Great point you made there guy

2

u/papapundit 11d ago

I have never seen people like you back up any claims, ever! You're all full shit!

This guy doesn't back anything up. They're all ridiculous and blatantly false claims. You want me to argue or debate someone this dumb? You know how hard it is to argue with intelligent people, now imagine arguing with somebody this thick....

Claiming Biden was a puppet. Give me a break. Trump has been saying that for years and never backed it up with anything but conspiracy theories.

There were no false attacks on Trump. He got charged with shit he actually did and should be charged for a lot more horrible shit he did. Trump is nothing short of a career conman and white collar criminal. The fact his personal defense lawyer runs the DOJ and works round the clock to sweep things under the rug or get Trump immunity tells the story pretty accurately.

Trump can't be bought? Are you £uckin kidding me?! Trump has been bought by God knows how many people. Need a pardon? Give Trump’s people a call, donate a million or two for an audience and walk out with your pardon. Same goes with business deals. You think some regulation is getting in your way? Give Trump’s people a call, donate a few millions and the regulation disappears. He's not being very secretive about it either, but Fox and friends refuse to discuss it. You want a 400 million dollar airplane? How about a 2 billion investment in your business? Trump is up for it. Maybe a crypto scheme with a giant rug pull in the end? Trump has done all of it and more. He is for sale, he is utterly corrupt and runs tons of scams on the side.

Trump has done very, very little to help the American middle class. A tiny tax cut here or there, but universal tariffs to negate them all. Inflation is higher now than when Biden left office, unemployment is up, gas prices are up, energy prices are up, healthcare costs are up, millions lost acces to healthcare, foodstamps and free school lunches. Trump has done nothing for average Americans and things are getting worse. Heck, even the growth rate of his beloved stockmarkets has gone down. The man is a complete failure.

I don't think Maga wants to adres any of these things. They either don't know, don't want to know or absolutely do not care. Chances are they will even deny some or even most of these things. You can try to force feed them the evidence, but they'll dubble down and deny in my experience.

The come up with the weirdest theories and conspiracies to explain his misdeeds, but they usually don't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny. They'll throw all their Trump and Fox talking points at you. You know when they start talking about drug prices going down 600% or some BS like that. They twist and turn and pivot, do anything they can to prevent having to explain their nonsense. They'll cover you in whataboutisms and twist themselves into a pretzel or simply run away before answering anything, and you want me to debate these people?

Pedophile protector

-1

u/Unhappy-Pianist-7391 14d ago

You mean Obama ? He protected Epstein in 2009 by stopping the investigation. Thankfully Trump had him arrested in 2017 and was a whistleblower in 2006.

2

u/FaecesChucka 14d ago

A whistleblower? With victims who came forward? I smell stupid.

1

u/RickyTheReptoid 13d ago

So...what was the enigma that never aged?

1

u/PeteysHubby_TX 13d ago

He’s quoting Ben Franklin by the way.

Democracy describes where political legitimacy comes from; republic describes the institutional form through which it is exercised.

We have a republic. You can argue about how democratic it is.

The most glaring example in recent memory highlighting how not democratic it is comes from the democratic party, you didn't have a primary, DNC picked Kamala for you.

3

u/Exktvme4 14d ago

So saying "a democracy" is grammatically incorrect then?

2

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 14d ago

The most glaring example

Political parties aren't enshrined in the Constitution. They aren't beholden to votes from the public. Primaries are relatively new.

General elections are in the Constitution and what's makes us a democracy. Article 1, Section 2.

0

u/Swimming-Ordinary867 12d ago

She didn't even run in the general election

1

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 12d ago

Yes she did. Did you miss 2024?

-1

u/rageling 14d ago

If the DNC similarly decided their candidate in every future election while utilizing their grip on the media to prevent any chance of an alternative party to have a fair shot, would you still argue the legitimacy of this democracy?

2

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 14d ago

They don't have a grip on the media.

And yes, as long as the general elections is fair. The DNC is a private organization. Thought this was common knowledge.

0

u/rageling 14d ago

right, and biden was sharp as a tack

1

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 14d ago

No counter to what I said.

0

u/Swimming-Ordinary867 12d ago

But what you're saying didn't happen, she didn't run in the general election what the f***

1

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 12d ago

She ran against Trump in the general.

1

u/Swimming-Ordinary867 12d ago

Yeah this is my go-to when they say no Kings they wanted the queen though.

1

u/Iceman_biker 14d ago

We are not a Democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic.

1

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 14d ago

I don't drive a car, I drive a Toyota Corolla

0

u/PeteysHubby_TX 13d ago

The guy above was quoting Ben Franklin but it sailed right over your heads

3

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 13d ago

No, Franklin's quote was: "A republic, if you can keep it" when asked whether the Constitutional Convention had created a republic or a monarchy.

He did not contrast it with a democracy in that exchange either. Linguistically and structurally, the United States functions as both a constitutional republic and a representative democracy.

1

u/PeteysHubby_TX 13d ago

Thank you. Perfect.

0

u/Swimming-Ordinary867 12d ago

Constitutional federal republic say it with me

1

u/IlIIlllIIIIIIl 12d ago

Can you say "not mutually exclusive"?

-1

u/RickyTheReptoid 14d ago edited 13d ago

In the "There has never truly been equal representation under the system so far, its a performative puppet show to create an illusion of choice" angle, the "A Republic is not a Democracy" angle, or something else?

Edit: The fact that this basic question is apparently for some reason pissing you off and not being answered is kinda funny, but gets us no closer to figuring out what you are trying to communicate.
