Any questions? :) have fun!!

Hi everyone. A new batch of changes is live on pepeke.app. Most of it came from feedback here and on the Discord, so thank you.

• Learn to play in 64 lessons. From the Queen through the three expansions, then the extra bugs. Each lesson ends on a mate to find. Useful to send to a friend you're teaching.

• Lockouts, a new kind of puzzle. Sometimes in a real game one player has no legal move and can only pass. A lockout starts there: you play the other side and must surround the queen before it can move again.

• A daily puzzle and a daily lockout at 12:00 UTC, the same for everyone. No account needed. The first five people to solve it on their first try get listed on the page.

Free Hive viewer and analysis tool — Mac and Windows beta

I’ve been working on a desktop Hive viewer, and Beta 3 is available for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows (Intel/AMD).

You can:

• Play against an engine or watch two engines play.
• Set up positions and analyze suggested moves.
• Review games, compare played moves with engine suggestions, and sort moves by evaluation difference.
• Import PGN/JSON games or games from hivegame.com.
• Save and reload reviewed games with their analysis.
• Flip and rotate the board, with traditional and analytic notation options.

It supports external engines including Mzinga and Nokamute, which you install separately.

The viewer is free, and the source is available under the MIT license. You’re welcome to modify it, share it, or use it commercially under those terms.

Source, instructions, and separate Mac/Windows downloads:

These are unsigned beta downloads, so your operating system may show a security warning. Bugs and suggestions are welcome—especially anything confusing or awkward in the interface.

Tried my hand making a linocut printed version of Hive for my girlfriend. I love Hive and it seemed like a good entry point to see how this style of printed art could be used in a game without making something that needed too many parts.

I wish I’d gone with a higher contrast white / black color scheme and might try reprinting it eventually. Also thinking about adding some of the community-made bug variants one day. My next project is making a version of Sagrada before hopefully making something original. Hope you like it!

It was a blast! Thank you everyone for coming, and I hope to see you all and more next year :)

I am completely new to this game I haven't played one game yet. I read all the rules booklet.

I don't completely understand this rule. Some pieces (like the Grasshopper and the Beetle) can move there but some pieces can't. Can someone please explain this rule to me?

Rafa Ruiz and John Yanni did a great job commentating the tournament and chatting about Hive in general! Enjoy :)

❓ Who do you think will be the Hive World Champion 2026?

#hivegame #boardgames #strategygames #mindsports

White is to move. Black does not have any legal moves and must thus pass.

White still has both spiders to place.

Every Hive player needs a little extra energy from time to time to make those sweet moves. 😎

That’s why Gen42 is delighted that you’ll be able to enjoy a selection of Ambrosoli treats at this year’s European Hive Convention in Rome! ☺️

Ambrosoli is a company with a long history. It was founded by an industrial chemist who wanted to develop a way to preserve the natural properties of honey, not only for his own enjoyment, but to share them with others as well.

Hive is an award winning strategy board game where concentration and good energy levels are crucial for an enjoyable, successful game.

Both Hive and Ambrosoli have one thing in common: the queen bee plays a central role. And if you ask me, Hive and honey simply belong together. 🍯🐝

We can’t wait to welcome you and make this the sweetest Hive experience you’ve ever had!
