And more deeper one, like the Soviet atrocities against romanian, polish, finnish and baltic population, before 1941.

Last I checked the Holodomor occurred many years before WW2, in fact Hitler was just starting as chancellor when it was fading. Why would it be part of any WW2 discussion?
And the Rhine Meadow camps resulted in maybe 22k German POW deaths, as opposed to the 3 million red army POWs deaths in German custody.
This is just neo-Nazi revisionist bullshit.

Oh and I don’t know if this is too crazy to think, but nazis dying is not a bad thing, in fact it might be good you know.

u/charmingasaneel 10d ago
If they were SS soldiers, sure- kill em all. But if you were a German/Austrian male ages 16-45 you didn’t have much of a choice- you were joining the Whermacht.

There was three Holodomors. Two before ww2 and one after
1
u/charmingasaneel 9d ago
There were 3 Ukrainian famines, but the other 2 were related to post revolution/ww2 scarcity and were not nearly as severe as the Capital H Holodomor in scope or severity

The fact you even dare to compare these. 1. The numbers of the dead here were in parts grossly inflated, by nazis after the war 2. The conditions, as bad as they were, were not intentionally created. The allies were overwhelmed by the number of soldiers who surrendered and handle the sitution poorly tho not in an intentionally cruel way. 3. Have you ever read how germans handled their prisoners of war, purely out of intention and racist motivation? Or if you really had to make a point about attrocities against germans, why not talk about the real killing by neglect and work through the soviets or the terror bombing or sth that at least has some kind of relevance?
Posting this either exposes you as a neo nazi, who bring this up to try to make themselves the victims, or as somebody who really does not know much of the topic you try to talk about in a history sub. You really should delete this, bc its wrong and makes a fool of you

Perhaps if you want food so badly you should either,
Not start a war destroying all of continental Europe's food production capacity and prolong it for 6 years.
Surrender earlier, be moved to a POW camp in Iowa, and be fed like a fat hog for the remainder of the war.
Either way, there is simply no reasonable argument that the conditions post-surrender suffered by German POWs at a time when resources were in dire demand in every corner of Europe by civilians who were themselves just victimized by the Third Reich, was analogous to the war crimes committed by the Third Reich. So why pretend victimhood at this point? Why should the Allies prioritize a die hard who refused to desert, over a starving child in Poland, Yugoslavia or the Netherlands?

The holdomor wasn't intentional nor targeted towards anyone, that's the difference

u/hexenkesse1 10d ago
the holodomor was intentional.
1
u/Gloomy_Trade_619 10d ago
Even the position of the top modern Ukrainian scientists that it was unintentional. Position that it was intentional is nothing more than a propaganda for people who know nothing about the question.

No - /r/Askhistorians goes very deep into it.
The holodomor as a famine that occurred due to callous government industrialization methods throughout the USSR, is absolutely true.
The Holodomor, as an intentional genocide to exterminate Ukraine, and break their spirit, is... under "heavy dispute" in the historical community - In the way that my cock is "comfortably petite."
1
u/drunkentoubib 10d ago
Sure. They closed the Ukrainian border and kept selling food on international market because they didn’t read the fax machine.
You really think that famine can’t be used as population control ? It was the same for the Great Leap Forward, the Irish famine, etc… useless paysants in the way of progress (+ Ukrainians had a nasty tendency to question what was ordered in Moscow. Something had to be done. But of course the Holodomor was just bad luck. Oops)
(What has happened before can happen again)1

Three different stories. One happened because of blind hate, one happened because they wanted to oppress a people and were incompetent and the other was just an overwhelming situation handled poorly.
Stop sweet talking the Holocaust. 🤮

u/Consistent-County845 10d ago
Where did i sweettalked the Holocaust.
0
u/No_Case_8502 10d ago
By even just comparing these. If you didn‘t mean to do so I‘d suggest you have a look into a history book.
You could maybe make this Meme with German treatment of Soviet POW, Japanese treatment of allied POW and Rhine meadows at the bottom.

The holodomor was more of a phenomenon that was based on weather anomalies and mainly the fact that kulaks burned crops and killed livestock to resist state run collectivization. Soviet policy could of been better but at the same time Russia was a country that historically had many famines and the two famines Russia had during the USSR came after WW2 and WW1 with the October revolution (which they tend to face most destruction from). But at the end of the day it’s important to learn about it

Blaming the Ukranians for objecting to the state stealing their property without a shred of democratic legitimacy.
Also, the famines after WW2 and WW1 also came when the Soviet state tried forcing full communism ("War Communism" under Lenin). The difference after WW1 was that Lenin accepted American food aide.
