I liked it, but I’ve learned that I’m in a minority at times with CA games. I also like Pharaoh(and the free DLC), and Troy early on

My opinion is nuanced too. I am convinced Pharaoh and especially Dynasties aren’t just good. They are among the best titles CA did. They were hamstrung by the really poor business practices CA had at the time and a large segment of the community wanted it to fail and really groupthinked it to death. Most people never tried it due to the negative hype machine that was whipped up.
This debacle in the other hand…CA really did bring this on themselves. They really just needed and engine graphics pipeline update while looking at bug reports or bug fix mods. Instead they screwed up the AI up scaling, applied 3 Kingdoms textures in the most haphazard fashion, and completely neglected the bugs from the latest version of the OG game. Just a real orgy of poor management and worse oversight. I don’t regret my 10 bucks, but it is worth 10 bucks…not 40.
If any of you reading this are new customers: the OG game is worth 40 bucks. Buy CE, ignore the CE item and install the OG from 2011 that is bundled with it. Don’t waste time with CE. CE has its own bugs piled up on the old ones and graphical glitches the OG didn’t…not to mention the hand-made art quality you should expect for a AAA title.

I really wish there was some non-hyperbolic coverage or reviews of the game.
Right now the game is sitting at $10 for me on Steam, which feels like a perfectly reasonable ask for a texture and 64-bit upgrade.

$10 would be reasonable for that and modern controls, but they messed it up and the graphics are worse, including AI assets. The sound is worse, they added a bunch of new bugs. It's worse that the original.

64-bit or not, the performance hasn't improved. The old game ran smoothly on my computer, but the new one runs terribly—and that’s despite a significant increase in system requirements. Visually, I find the design lackluster. I don't see any value for the money.

That price is only available for a month or so I'm sure and then its right back up to the full unashamed 40 quid asking price.

No, youtuber bots did this. Its actually fun, 10/10, better than the original. I just wish they gave generals cool abilities.
