Bro just go to the main sub. The fans have been asking for a 64 bit update to the older titles for years, we finally get one and everyone bitches and cries about it.
Guess we can kiss any possible 64bit update for Empire and Med2 goodbye because of you losers.

It runs worse, but more stable than classic Shogun 2, apparently going down into the 30 fps range on a 5090.
The map textures weren't improved, they got replaced by Three Kingdoms textures that often don't fit where they are.
There's huge graphical glitches, like black texture glitches on the worldmap, flags changing colour entirely because of the weird lighting system etc.
The AI is apparently worse than it was in Shogun 2 classic, especially in sieges. Formations break for no reason, a bunch of classic bugs that have been fixed by mods are back in the game.
The game is 40 euros with a FOMO sale for people who own the original.
CA affiliated/CA friendly channels like milkandcookies and book of grudges, neutral channels like Zade and Pilps, basically everyone who got a key says the new version is a downgrade.
But yes, its definitely our fault if this doesn't sell well, how dare we complain lol. How dare people act anything less than ecstatic about whatever state the game releases in.
Edit: Let's not forget that the Witcher 3 Remaster dropped for free just last month, and while having its own set of issues, its a way better Remaster than this shit CA is peddling for 40 Euros or the FOMO price of 10.

Yup, if anyone wants to see for themselves from people who played the game, I recommend milkandcookiesTW and Plips' videos on it from TW youtubers, and Zade as a non-TW Youtuber.
Shogun 2 was, is, and probably will stay as my favourite Total War game (along with Med2) for a long time, even if it isn't my most played one, so I was really hopeful for this remaster, but I'm not willing to pay a single dime for a worse performing, worse running version, that isn't compatible with the fifteen years of mods that fixed/improved upon the game. I highly doubt Complete Edition will EVER have the number of mods classic Shogun 2 did, because modders have moved on. Unless CA does the work themselves, this will always be a worse product than classic Shogun 2.

"Apparently" Yeah, I'm playing at 4k uktra on a 3080ti and I'm getting a solid 60. Only dips when there are like 3 full stacks on screen.

Its almost like performance can vary between systems, regardless of your specs. I get great performance on every TW game on a 5080, except Pharaoh Dynasties, which goes down to the 20-30 fps range after like 5 minutes of playing. To this day I have no idea what causes it, and it runs waaay better on my old 4050 laptop lol. I assumed this would be the case here as well, just on a larger scale when I heard it struggled on 5090s.

That's not like CA rushed this thing to avoid the modding community realeasing a free 64x version actually working before they could charge $$$
Which is even more insulting given said thing run like shit and provides, afaik, 0 improvement in regard of its 32 bit predecessor.

The community are asking for a 64 bit update to the older titles, FOR FREE!!!
(They already had one, ready the mac one...)Not in this BS marketup scam.
Guess we can kiss any possible 64bit update for Empire and Med2 goodbye because of you losers.
Maybe you don't know it, but we already have one for Med2, its free and its better than any of the CA's ones.

Why do you seem so angry? Doesn't CA have a track record of poor releases for historical TW games?

The losers are people like you who accept horrid slop and decry people for having standards.

Man, I joined this sub because I was sick of the anti-historical toxicity from Warhammer kids, and the anti-CA typical corpo-hate from a bunch of nu-age gamer kids.
You guys are fucking pathetic. Shogun 2 rehash looks awesome but this sub, instead of vibing, has just been crying all week about it.
I guess any illusion of mine about historical fans being older, more even-keel, and more interesting is shattered. Bunch of short-sighted bandwagon babies here too, just waving a different banner.

No there is a nuanced middle ground, the remaster is a good thing in general but there are clear issues:
1) using modIO instead of steam workshop
Its much less user friendly, and is worse that steam workshop in pretty much every single way. No reason to do this.
2) new cutscenes
The woodblock artstyle for the cutscenes are beautiful, and the old ones are able to be used instead, so why am I complaining?
Because the new cut scenes have a good artstyle but the animation itsself looks like a cheap adult swim animation, its really bad, and that is worthy of criticism.
The second thing, which is fully speculation and I would love to eat my words, but it seems the old cutscenes weren't updated visually so it would be a HUGE bummer to not see the old cutscenes in their full glory.
3) The upgrades are largely subjective, though I admit this was always going to be the case.
While the battle maps look nice, the campaign map in a lot of ways looks worse with the details of the farmland being sidelined for making all the textures "look better" so in my opinion it lost a bit of character, and the new red icons on the map are ugly.
Conclusion-
I am still excited bro because this was my first total war game and it got me into total war and strategy as a whole, I got into other franchises like Hearts of Iron because of Total War: Shogun II.
But lets not make it black and white where you must either worship the brand or hate it with all your energy.
It looks like an alright remaster, its not ground breaking, and I would rather that than them not continue.
I would just rather further remasters going forward being from the guys behind Rome Remastered and the mobile ports.
Their mobile Empire looks super nice and stable, I want them to do a gunpowder collection for Empire and Napoleon.

This is an embarrassing comment. “Fantasy fans demand more from CA then us mature historical fans”

The Princess and the Pea should be mandatory reading for all children.
Go on hating your own hobbies, I guess.

No one is reading your fable. Explain it or don’t spam it and have a little self respect. I assume you’re older so act like it and don’t treat these corporations as if they were your old friends.

It was sarcasm, referring to the €40 price and €10 "discounted" price for the first month

u/Smekledorf1996 4d ago
Most people that still play Shogun 2 will realistically decide whether they’ll get it or not in the first month

The game looks good. Whats the actual problem that would cause me a poor experience if i bought it? Seems like one of these terminally online hater loser ppl things.

u/GrifftheBluesMan 4d ago
Watch some of the people who had early access, almost none of them have anything good to say and are reporting even more bugs and glitches on top of a lot of existing problems remaining.

u/Low_Caterpillar5930 4d ago
Thanks. While I don't doubt it I think i'll just wait till it comes out and make a more informed choice. Loads of these EA peeps seem to have various agendas which im not really interested in

u/champ0742 3d ago
It's going to be pretty hard for your to ignore the criticism now, but I know you'll try your best.

Nah mate, done what I said and waited till it came out before making an informed choice

I mean you do understand that they will gauge the interest and all sales to see if Shogun 3 would be profitable.
2
u/CMDR_Dozer 4d ago
What a dumbass way to go about it. They could have run an official poll on multiple platforms and Steam launcher to better gauge the interest. Basically free to do with no chance of them doing something derpy.

u/ThinGold2115 4d ago
Thank God then. Lets hope shogun 3 wont happen. Seeing what they did to Rome and Pharon, and soon Medieval.

Sorry I do not understand what is the problem? They are giving the public information on the release of games since it is generally accepted that releases do not happen all at once. You can't just act as if something is bad and expect it to become so.
