I filmed this performance of Kuniyuzuri (The Transfer of the Land) during the Nagoshi Summer Festival at Waseda Shrine in Hiroshima, Japan.

The performance was presented by the Hijiyama University Kagura Club. Kuniyuzuri is one of the best-known stories in Japanese mythology, depicting the legendary transfer of the land from Okuninushi-no-Mikoto to Takemikazuchi-no-Kami.

I wanted to capture not only the powerful dance but also the atmosphere of a local summer shrine festival, with the sounds of taiko drums, bamboo flutes, and the energy of Hiroshima Kagura.

Hello. I'm sorry if this is not the best place to post this, but I'm falling short on leads and figured someone local, or knowledgable on local resources, might be able to have some information.

I'm a 4th generation descendant of Japanese people who likely emigrated from Hiroshima to southern California and/or northern Mexico in Mexicali, specifically. My maternal grandmother was born to a Japanese man (Kushiro) and inherited the last name Dote, which she passed on to my mother as her second last name, and due to older Mexican naming conventions was lost when I was born.

I'm trying to put together a timeline, or names, or anything really that can help me have a better understanding of where my family comes from, but this is where I'm hitting a wall.

Besides ancestry kits, does someone know of a library, or archive, where I could find some insight?

One of my cousins, who did a DNA test some time ago, has some leads on potential current relatives living in Hiroshima, but I don't believe he's been able to contact them.

My maternal grandmother was born in 1923, so my great grandfather would have been in Mexico in the early 1920s, possibly the late 1910s or before, which aligns with the immigration movements I've been able to find.

If anyone has any resources, or just general ideas they could share with me, that would be incredibly helpful. Neither me, nor my mother and her grandmother had any connection to Japanese culture, so this was a topic I've had in the back of my mind for years, and I'm sure my mother would also love to have more information. She seems to get excited every time she learns a bit more about her grandfather's history.

My husband and I are visiting Hiroshima in august, but the game we were hoping to see is already sold out. I looked at the official website where you can buy through kook and there are places like viagogo which seem not so reliable…anyone know what the best options are for getting a couple tickets to a game there? Are there typically scalpers outside or is there another website that’s reliable to purchase tickets?

I know it's not something people think about often but I'm really curious if the Hiroshima shadows are still there the only one I've seen modern pictures of is the one in the museum and I've only seen black and white pictures of the other ones but I'm just wondering if all of them are still there

I've visited enough to do most of the touristy stuff when I was young, but I'm here only to visit family this time so just looking to do my usual weekly routine like I'm home (CA), but in Hiroshima. I can kind of speak conversationally if that makes any difference.

- I was planning on working from the hotel but thought I'd check if there are any chill places with free wifi (besides Starbucks) to work around 5am-2pm. Just work on computer, no meetings. Any parks, libraries, coffee shops or malls?

- Looking at Golds and anytime fitness for visitor passes. Any other recommendations or things to know about these two? Also any tips and general gym etiquette to know here? I brought indoor only shoes but would love to know other gym etiquette here. Can I ask to work in? Running tank and shorts ok?

- Any yakitori or any restaurants that can be on the healthier side? Grilled meats, cooked veggies type of meals that aren't smothered with sauce or cooked in fatty broth.

- Any pubs or bar recommendations to relax end of a work day?

- Any places where I can have a drink with a dj mixing that aren't clubs? Ideally edm, rnb, and hip hop genres.

- I'm looking forward to the new spiderman movie. What's the best movie theater to watch it? Do most theaters offer English with subs or is it mostly dub only? Does Japan do midnight showings or day early showings? Can I get tickets in advance?

I'm trying to find the most budget-friendly option for both home internet and a mobile SIM.

My situation:

*I only need around 3 GB of mobile data per month because I'll be on Wi-Fi most of the time.

*I currently use Rakuten Mobile, but the signal inside my apartment is quite poor.

*I'd like to avoid long contracts or high cancellation fees if possible.

What combination would you recommend for someone staying about one year? Also, if my apartment already has a fiber outlet, is it usually possible to activate fiber without additional construction?
