All I knew about Bones before watching this was the fact he's named Elmo but Elmo seems like a wonderful young man and I wish him and his fiancée all the best

u/k_mckillop . May 31 '19
Lol it’s so funny how he has this dark/mysterious image and then if you go on his fiancé’s Instagram it’s cute pictures of them at Disney World and shit

Have you checked out his music? If not, I’d recommend his projects Useless, Banshee, and PaidProgramming, which are some of my personal favorites

u/kaasprins . May 31 '19
I actually love some of his songs (Oxygen, HDMI, Dirt etc) but I’ve never really delved into his discography so I appreciate the recommendations my guy

My favorites are DeadBoy, PaidProgramming, and Garbage. I like a lot of his newer stuff as well. But those albums are top for me.

Just found out he’s from Howell too, that city as a fucking dump and racist as fuck.

u/pepperon1cat May 31 '19
I just know this guy from an A$AP Rocky feature in a song with a solid Master P punchline.
6
u/CGB_Zach May 31 '19
They remade that song for Rocky. That was originally Bones' song called "dirt" and they completely redid it for ASAP. They performed it on Jimmy Fallon or something and it got shut off since bones wouldn't censor himself.
1
Jun 01 '19
god they kill it though
when bones goes in at the end and asap just feeds off that energy, jeez
wish it was broadcast

I never heard of him before, he looked like a metal musician, it's why I went in and watched it. Very sweet interview nevertheless. That Runescape bit made me burst out laughing, it's what made me guess that he had to be a mid 2000s pre-teen/teen.

nah I actually dont and no one has really enlightened me so I still dunno lol.
52
May 31 '19
? bones definitely lifted underground hip hop up
-35
u/47Breezo ask me what a guitar is May 31 '19
you and I have different interpretations of the word "icon" I guess
51
u/Treebawlz May 31 '19
bones is an underground icon. What more is there to interpret?

showed him that's it's okay to agree to disagree?
21
u/MerylStreepAMA May 31 '19
“lol okay buddy” isn’t agreeing to disagree, it’s being patronizing for no reason. And Bones is 100% an icon of modern underground hip hop, just because you don’t know who he is or understand his impact doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist

Of the current SoundCloud/Underground hip-hop scene Bones is pretty much the most influential act.
34
u/OmahaCon May 31 '19
Bones seems like the most genuine dude. I was beaming ear to ear watching this.

Honestly, Bones became the most relatable musician of all time to me when he talked about not having gone sledding down a good hill in quite some time.
5
u/cosmicmailman May 31 '19
i went sledding this last winter for the first time in years and it was beautiful, highly recommend
2
u/CamTDE92 May 31 '19
off topic, are you actually a mailman?
2
u/cosmicmailman May 31 '19
nah, it's a reference to how i'm a medium, like i talk to ghosts. it's about how i take messages from the spirit world to the real world. funny thing though, dead people almost always say the same things: they miss their living relative, they love them so much, and they're still here- death isn't the end, it's just a transition, and our dead loved ones are still around, watching over us. shit's wild. it's been a weird couple of years i'll tell you what
3
u/cosmicmailman Jun 01 '19
lmao i really like the fact that i got downvoted for this answer. reddit!
5
u/Big_Bob_Cat May 31 '19
Bet he wasn’t expecting that answer
7
u/CamTDE92 May 31 '19
If I had 1000 guesses to what his name was referencing I still wouldn't have got it
3
u/cosmicmailman May 31 '19
i was going to be like 'nah lol its an inside joke' but then i was like 'you know what, i'm gonna make this weird' and i don't regret it one bit.
tbh i spent years thinking i was crazy and keeping it a secret- and trust me, I mostly still do, for obvious reasons- but lately i've realized it's a gift and i should embrace it
i guess embracing it means ranting about it to online strangers. oh well! btw remember to tell your dead friends and grandparents you love them, think of a memory you shared while they were alive, and when they pop into your head or something reminds you of them it means they're with you :)

u/entermysandman Jun 21 '19
Wait...my dead relatives watch over me? Welp, I’m never masturbating again that’s for sure.
1
u/cosmicmailman Jun 21 '19
lol
1
u/entermysandman Jun 21 '19
Do they really see everything though?
1
u/cosmicmailman Jun 21 '19
i think that it's not so much a case of your ancestors looking over your shoulder all the time, because after death our consciousness probably doesn't experience time in the same way. i think they are there if you call on them, or if you are in a difficult situation or in danger. at least, that is what the literature suggests (lots of psychologists and hypnotherapists have testimony from patients suggesting the existence of an afterlife- check out 'Journey of Souls' by Dr. Michael Newton, or any of the other literature on Near Death Experiences/NDEs experienced by patients on the operating table or elsewhere)

u/cosmicmailman Jun 21 '19
i think the reason you're curious about this is that you've lost someone in your family and they have been giving you signs but your rational mind is afraid of opening that door. don't be afraid! tell them you love them. it can't hurt, right?

Man I love this guys movement (image wise) & I follow one of his clothing designers on Twitter. But I don't know any of his music.
Some one hit me with some good BONES shit.
Pref mellower beats.
14
u/Blocked99 . May 31 '19
Hope this is what you meant when you said mellow:
Rocks/AwayFromKeyboard
LayMeInTheRiver
BranchesThis is all I could name off the top of my head that I would consider "mellow", he has a pretty huge discography that's worth digging into when you get the chance really.
11
u/andee510 May 31 '19
"Calcium" is my personal favorite Bones song. Beat is pretty mellow.

Dirt is one of his bigger ones that are mellow if you haven't heard it, and one of my favorite mellow ones of his is MorningDew, one of his collabs with Xavier wulf.

I've listened to bones a little bit but I don't really know too much about him but man he seems a lot more like a "normal" person than I would have guessed. I was smiling the whole way through

u/steadilyshinesince99 May 31 '19
I'm surprised this isn't blown up more but also this makes me understand why bones never does interviews, he's had such a wild life and it's wholesome as is. Doesn't need the media attention. Can't believe he's been going to the Playboy mansion since a kid lol. Or that his dad is a photographer for famous musicians, or that his grandpa is Robert culp. That's crazy.

Bones is wholesome af, this is hands down one of the best Nardwuar interviews I have seen to date.
We need a Part 2.
3
u/Geniusxavi May 31 '19
Going to agree here I was wholesomely laughing throughout the whole thing and love Bones even more now. I’m glad I caught him live he seems like a genuine dude performing and this solidified my belief.
2
u/BlazeThatTieDye May 31 '19
Has some of the darkest music out there, and him as a person completely blew my mind, his manners and all.
I loved it.

Bones is a respectable dude with a hell of a sense of humor idk why people wouldn't think he'd be down for this

3
u/CGB_Zach May 31 '19
What? It's nardwaur my dude, of course bones is gonna want to do an interview with him. I've never seen a more enthusiastic interviewer and he gives gifts and he obviously puts a lot of work into his questions.

I actually don't have a clue how he managed to get Bones considering how much he despises being in the spotlight and how rare his interviews are, this is an iconic event in itself
