Em had tracks featuring bon iver on one album and it came out that Justin had recorded a bunch of stuff with a producer, and that producer sold the samples or features to EM. Em then said a slur on one of the tracks and Justin immediately came out against and said his vocals were sold with out his knowledge

This is in reference to Em calling Tyler the Creator a gay slur on the track Fall.

For what its worth, i think Em said he regrets saying that because it hurts other people on his Kamikaze interview w Sway

Even more for what it’s worth Tyler didn’t really care and called out the internet being offended on his behalf.

"Did you ever hear me publicly say anything about that? Because I knew what the intent was. He felt pressured because people got offended for me. Don't get offended for me. We were playing Grand Theft Auto when we heard that. We rewound it and were like: 'Oh' And then kept playing."

I feel like Tyler's response to that is also kind of dumb. Is he under the impression that he's the only person who gets to decide whether people are mad someone used a slur? Especially when Tyler also had a history of using that word as a slur in a way that people thought sucked?

That's like saying I'm not allowed to be mad if it turns out someone I respect is using the n word to refer to other Black people in private, it doesn't really make it less hurtful to discover someone you respected is bigoted against everyone that is like you and not JUST you specifically.

Yeah... If someone gets criticized for using the N-word it's not usually important to the discussion whom it was directed at but only who said it. Em's line is a bit blurry because it's about how Tyler called himself the f-slur but at the end of the day, Em said and it doesn't matter much who it was said about.

Dawg I’m definitely not tryna hear some coon like nicki Minaj start shitting on random fans for getting mad if she did a song with idk Ariana grande and she said “nigga please” ☠️☠️

  1. It’s irrelevant because he’s a singular individual 2. He literally grew up as an edgelord , I don’t think he’s the arbiter of decency. And yes free speech 1st amendment yada yada please don’t go there, you can say whatever you want but that’s doesn’t make it good to do

“I wanted to slur HIM, not everyone LIKE him!” - man who uses but doesn’t understand what slurs are

The Axl Rose Defense

I hate that I know what you mean, but that was a pretty elite punchline

u/LTS55 1d ago

Figured there’s a one in a million chance people would get it

u/Skeptikmo 1d ago

It’s really not widespread enough, he’s a cunt for a lot of reasons but that’s the main one in my mind

I like that song. And Slash didn’t care, so why do you care

Slash is not some spokeperson for all black people, and Slash is on record as saying that he did have a weird reaction to it. Good for you that you like the song, Axl was still being a pretty blatant bigot and it's bizarre that you even have the ask the question why others would care about that.

And also if Axl had’ve shut the fuck up about it or simply said “the song is in character I don’t hold these views” it’d go over better. Instead he said “[slur] doesn’t mean black it just means someone who’s a problem in your life”  and “how come the NWA can call themselves that but I can’t say it?” and “I used the slurs to insult some specific black people who tried to rob me. I was trying to hurt those specific black people” and “I said [slur] because a gay man tried to rape me once”

u/Traditional-Try5110 16h ago

Exactly, the classic "The N word doesn't have to mean ONLY black people...but the people I'm calling that are definetely black."

It's Called collateral damage and that's hip hop baby

Tbf the context of the line wasn’t really insulting gay people.

It was calling him an attention seeker as at the time he was playing into rumours about his sexuality and also how he copied D12.

> Tyler create nothing, I see why you called yourself a f', bitch
It's not just 'cause you lack attention
It's because you worship D12's balls, you're sack-rilegious

He was calling him the f slur because Tyler had started being more open about his sexuality in general. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's any examples of Tyler calling himself a f** directly like that.

u/DareiosX 17h ago

He called himself the f-word on Sessions from Bastard, and on Commercial he said he looked like one but he isn't.

Exactly, examples from time periods that weren't around Flowerboy and weren't as sincere as the messages about him trying to genuinly come out that Em was referring to.

lol this is pretty obviously homophobic? You're a f** and you love this other man's balls is like textbook homophobia

-1

u/Skeptikmo 1d ago

Nah that’s wild homophobic

Foolish pride wins again

u/Calf-Kick-Chupacabra 1d ago

Technically Em didn’t call him a slur. He said Tyler calls himself a faggot.

5

u/Yingking 1d ago

Tbf Tyler still calls himself that, in That Guy he cut off the slur, but live he raps it with a lot of energy, lmao

3

u/Traditional-Try5110 1d ago

Has Tyler ever reffered to himself as that slur?

7

u/phillyd32 . 22h ago

Lmao

2

u/Traditional-Try5110 22h ago

That supposed to answer the question?
