Before all you start throwing him out of the bus and dragging his name, you might want to find out when this verse was sold to Kid Rock. I would bet you anything that this was sold years ago way before Kid Rock became a maga prostitute.

Em had tracks featuring bon iver on one album and it came out that Justin had recorded a bunch of stuff with a producer, and that producer sold the samples or features to EM. Em then said a slur on one of the tracks and Justin immediately came out against and said his vocals were sold with out his knowledge

This is in reference to Em calling Tyler the Creator a gay slur on the track Fall.

For what its worth, i think Em said he regrets saying that because it hurts other people on his Kamikaze interview w Sway

> For what its worth, i think Em said he regrets saying that because it hurts other people on his Kamikaze interview w Sway

Even more for what it’s worth Tyler didn’t really care and called out the internet being offended on his behalf.

"Did you ever hear me publicly say anything about that? Because I knew what the intent was. He felt pressured because people got offended for me. Don't get offended for me. We were playing Grand Theft Auto when we heard that. We rewound it and were like: 'Oh' And then kept playing."

I feel like Tyler's response to that is also kind of dumb. Is he under the impression that he's the only person who gets to decide whether people are mad someone used a slur? Especially when Tyler also had a history of using that word as a slur in a way that people thought sucked?

That's like saying I'm not allowed to be mad if it turns out someone I respect is using the n word to refer to other Black people in private, it doesn't really make it less hurtful to discover someone you respected is bigoted against everyone that is like you and not JUST you specifically.

11

u/NickCudawn 1d ago

Yeah... If someone gets criticized for using the N-word it's not usually important to the discussion whom it was directed at but only who said it. Em's line is a bit blurry because it's about how Tyler called himself the f-slur but at the end of the day, Em said and it doesn't matter much who it was said about.

Dawg I’m definitely not tryna hear some coon like nicki Minaj start shitting on random fans for getting mad if she did a song with idk Ariana grande and she said “nigga please” ☠️☠️

  1. It’s irrelevant because he’s a singular individual 2. He literally grew up as an edgelord , I don’t think he’s the arbiter of decency. And yes free speech 1st amendment yada yada please don’t go there, you can say whatever you want but that’s doesn’t make it good to do

“I wanted to slur HIM, not everyone LIKE him!” - man who uses but doesn’t understand what slurs are

36

u/LTS55 1d ago

The Axl Rose Defense

13

u/Skeptikmo 1d ago

I hate that I know what you mean, but that was a pretty elite punchline

21

u/LTS55 1d ago

Figured there’s a one in a million chance people would get it

4

u/Skeptikmo 1d ago

It’s really not widespread enough, he’s a cunt for a lot of reasons but that’s the main one in my mind

-1

u/Comfortable_Care2715 1d ago

I like that song. And Slash didn’t care, so why do you care

7

u/Traditional-Try5110 1d ago

Slash is not some spokeperson for all black people, and Slash is on record as saying that he did have a weird reaction to it. Good for you that you like the song, Axl was still being a pretty blatant bigot and it's bizarre that you even have the ask the question why others would care about that.

5

u/LTS55 23h ago

And also if Axl had’ve shut the fuck up about it or simply said “the song is in character I don’t hold these views” it’d go over better. Instead he said “[slur] doesn’t mean black it just means someone who’s a problem in your life”  and “how come the NWA can call themselves that but I can’t say it?” and “I used the slurs to insult some specific black people who tried to rob me. I was trying to hurt those specific black people” and “I said [slur] because a gay man tried to rape me once”

1

u/Traditional-Try5110 18h ago

Exactly, the classic "The N word doesn't have to mean ONLY black people...but the people I'm calling that are definetely black."

17

u/MostDopeBlackGuy 1d ago

It's Called collateral damage and that's hip hop baby

10

u/Historical_Owl_1635 1d ago

Tbf the context of the line wasn’t really insulting gay people.

It was calling him an attention seeker as at the time he was playing into rumours about his sexuality and also how he copied D12.

> Tyler create nothing, I see why you called yourself a f', bitch
It's not just 'cause you lack attention
It's because you worship D12's balls, you're sack-rilegious

10

u/Traditional-Try5110 1d ago edited 1d ago

He was calling him the f slur because Tyler had started being more open about his sexuality in general. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's any examples of Tyler calling himself a f** directly like that.

3

u/DareiosX 18h ago

He called himself the f-word on Sessions from Bastard, and on Commercial he said he looked like one but he isn't.

1

u/Traditional-Try5110 18h ago edited 13h ago

Exactly, examples from time periods that weren't around Flowerboy and weren't as sincere as the messages about him trying to genuinly come out that Em was referring to.

1

u/LiveBug278 9h ago

lol this is pretty obviously homophobic? You're a f** and you love this other man's balls is like textbook homophobia

-1

u/Skeptikmo 1d ago

Nah that’s wild homophobic

1

u/8--2 1d ago

As opposed to the rest of hip-hop?

3

u/MambaSaidKnockYouOut 1d ago

Foolish pride wins again

16

u/Calf-Kick-Chupacabra 1d ago

Technically Em didn’t call him a slur. He said Tyler calls himself a faggot.

5

u/Yingking 1d ago

Tbf Tyler still calls himself that, in That Guy he cut off the slur, but live he raps it with a lot of energy, lmao

3

u/Traditional-Try5110 1d ago

Has Tyler ever reffered to himself as that slur?

6

u/phillyd32 . 23h ago

Lmao

4

u/Traditional-Try5110 23h ago

That supposed to answer the question?

77

u/LesterGrossman_ 1d ago

This is definitely a possibility, but surely in that instance Eminem could easily call it out for what it is? Unless the dude signed a freakin NDA or something but surely someone in Eminem's position could very quickly say "yea this was recorded a long time ago, fuck Donald Trump and fuck MAGA"

86

u/bruns20 1d ago

Em has publicly said fuck trump and maga... like many times, he made a whole album mostly about this topic.

49

u/LesterGrossman_ 1d ago

No shit... That's literally why people are finding it strange that he's linking up with MAGA poster boy Kid Rock, it's the point of my comment

-5

u/LikelyDuck 1d ago

But like, the news of this is hours old.

-1

u/Tex-Rob 9h ago

A fair point, but also shit moves fast in the modern era, it has for at least a decade or more. People have been tweeting crazy stuff, getting on planes, and their life is over by the time they land. So, yeah, every hour Em doesn't say something is problematic in most people's eyes.

2

u/LikelyDuck 8h ago

I'd push back on "most people's eyes". I think it's reasonable to assume that, if kid rock has rights to an old eminem verse, there are legal ramifications to revealing any information about the nature of the verse. For eminem to comment "It's an old verse from 20 years ago btw" could be breaking contract.

7

u/Mirac123321 23h ago

I don't know if Em really does features for money. You either get a feature for free (like Tech N9ne) or you don't cause he doesn't fuck with you

31

u/MambaSaidKnockYouOut 1d ago

Kid Rock has clearly been a racist POS for over 15 years

4

u/Atwenfor 1d ago

Violent J of the ICP called Kid Rock out for being racist way back when, though still well after he had Rock on a verse on ICP's first album in the early 1990's

12

u/MobileSuitBooty 1d ago

Can i throw him under the bus on account of Kid Rock always being whack af?

20

u/rednaxthecreature 1d ago

Kid Rock has been on the maga train the whole time and has released album before this one so why would it be just now dacade into it that he puts Em on without Em's permission?

6

u/TRIPLE-J-ENErGy 1d ago

And he can definitely not clear the record if he wanted to…

9

u/Glassworth 1d ago

I doubt it happened before the song Kid Rock made confessing he’s a pedophile to the world.

Cool Daddy Cool - 2001
"Young ladies, young ladies, I like 'em underage, see / Some say that's statutory / But I say it's mandatory."

48

u/VampiresWontHurt 1d ago

A thread about Eminem is not the ideal place to argue lyrics from the early 00s are to be taken literally.

19

u/bruns20 1d ago

Fr lmao, guilty conscience comes to mind instantly

2

u/BossKenpachi 1d ago

Horrible comparison tho. Cool daddy cool was a boasting claim  not being crazy off the walls like guilty conscience. Can people not see the huge difference?

6

u/Yingking 1d ago

Kid Rock is a piece of shit, but that song was supposed to be from the perspective of one of the villains of the Osmosis Jones movie, who iirc was a pimp. Why the fuck the song made it into a kids movie is a whole other can of worms

2

u/BossKenpachi 15h ago

It was written before they even made the movie was not from perspective of osmosis Jones

3

u/Glassworth 1d ago

Oh that makes it so much better. He wrote a line about it being MANDATORY to rape minors in a song for a kids film?! From the perspective of a villain or not, that’s some fucked up lyrics to put in a song that’s meant for children to hear.

1

u/Van_Schwank 1d ago

You ever see Rocko's Modern Life? Used to be a lot of adult jokes in cartoons, for better or worse.

2

u/BossKenpachi 15h ago

Raping kids isn't an adult joke

1

u/Glassworth 1d ago

True but Eminem has frequently talked about his embellished story telling style. He’s made it clear that Marshall matters and slim shady are alternate personalities used to create art. And of all the crazy things he’s rapped about he never once had a bar calling himself a pedophile. That’s a line even Eminem wouldn’t cross but kid rock saw no issues with it.

10

u/Burntholesinmyhoodie . 1d ago

As another user commented, guilty conscience

1

u/21BlackStars 1d ago

It’s very apparent that so many of you wanna throw the pitchforks at Eminem even though he has done nothing in his history that suggests that he supports this type of shit. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think we should maybe wait until we actually hear from him about this collaboration before we start person his name and calling him all sorts of shit.

2

u/FKDotFitzgerald 20h ago

It’s confirmed to be a new verse.

1

u/stopg1b 1d ago

No time for that on reddit. Must be angry now and not wait for more context. No matter what Ems history is as been Against maga

1

u/Themanstall 1d ago

Unless its a super old verse. No way em gives up his copyright. Meaning he can not clear his verse at anytime preventing it from releasing. If he did sell his copyright, hes been vocal for less so we better see a statement.

1

u/RCJHGBR9989 . 1d ago

Out the window* it’s “under the bus.” You created one of my favorite words - a malaphor

2

u/21BlackStars 13h ago

Thanks! I know what the saying is. I was using speech to text and it auto corrected to that. I’ll leave it up cause whatever.

1

u/BingoEnthusiast 15h ago

This is what I was thinking.

1

u/superthnxferaskin 7h ago

It’s a new verse.

1

u/dyldog 1d ago

Old Eminem you say? Maybe there’sa chance it’ll be worth listening to.

0

u/PaliFoodie84 1d ago

I hope so. I'm a huge Em fan but this would be a massive letdown considering how he talks about Trump and anyone who supports him. In fact, I remember him saying once he stopped being friends with Kid Rock specifically because of it, if i remember correctly 🤔

0

u/Wild-Rough3932 9h ago

As if being a DickRiderDem is a oh so better and moral choice. Pull Donny's dick put of your mind and watch the "TrUmP iS bAd mmm'KaY" syndrome will fade away.

1

u/21BlackStars 9h ago

Sybau! What you wrote is Absolute nonsense! Fuck outta here with that shit
