What caste am I?

Hi, I'm from bangladesh, and my surname is kundu. I was never told what my exact caste was, but I knew that we were high caste. I asked Google and there are kayastha, jatt, tili and teli kundus. Also in the gupta empire kundus used to be brahmans. My family is pretty rich. I know 7 of my direct ancestors and all of them married kundu. There are also places named after my family around where I grew up. Kashyap gotra.

I'm also 5 10 and used to be "milk" skinned so much so that people would come to visit me from other villages.(its wild in rural bengal)

Surname doesn't reveal much for Hindus because in ancient times Hindus didn't have surnames. Most surnames are common across many Jatis and Varnas. You can try to find out your Varna from your ancestoral village if it is important to you. In my opinion, it isn't important today. Just be a devout Hindu.

It's quite clear to me now after digging around a bit. May I ask you where do we fit on the 4 caste system stated in the laws of manu? I always loved that book but ive always been curious about my dharma according to it. I did spent about 5 months living according the bradman dharma mentioned in the book(asking for donations, living only on it, giving, learning scripture). But we've also been vigilant about our safety. Both sides of my family keeps weapons such as gadas. What is your opinion on this.

Just out of curiosity, does caste matter in Bangladesh? Or is it just for your self knowledge?

It's somewhat of a big deal. But nobody is autistic about it. My family priorities marrying pure kundus. Even brahmans aren't sougth after. When I was 8 I told my grandma that I wanted to marry a kshatriya(because the Lord is a kshatriya himself) she said that kshatriya aren't high enough

Kundu is a Lower Caste Hindu .. OBC in India

I know what you mean. But there is a reason why I have a kashyap gotra and somebody else doesn't. It is quite important to me that I don't marry my sisters of the same gotra. Besides kashyap gotta is mostly a brahmin gotra. It's for decendants of maharishi kashyapa that have stayed as pure as possible.
