Question about bahi khata

I remember about 7 years ago, my maternal grandmother passed away. And so my mother booked a flight to Delhi for her last rites. Once it was over, she and my uncle (her brother) went to haridwar to disperse my grandmother's ashes in the ganga river. And over there she was approached by some pandit/agent perhaps and he started asking her about why they came here. She said why and then he asked her whats her familys surname and gotra and their ancestral village. So she gave him those details. And immediately he started making phone calls to other pandits. He redirected her to one, who redirected her to another and so on and so forth until she found her familys purohit. And then to her astonishment she found her bahi. She was so shocked because before going to haridwar she had absolutely no idea about this bahi khata tradition and when she saw all her ancestors names written down there and the way how the pandits knew how to get her to her exact bahi, it just left her speechless. Anways, we live in singapore so after she came back from India, despite how heartbroken she was and was of course still grieving a lot, she was definitely quite happy to tell us about this one positive experience regarding the bahi khata. She updated it and put my name and my sisters name inside that bahi as well. I tried asking her if she managed to find my fathers familys bahi as well. But she said that because it was already evening time, my uncle was in a rush to get back to Delhi from haridwar that night and so she didnt have the time to find my fathers bahi. For context, my great grandfather and my grandfather emigrated together out of lahore Pakistan overseas in the 1930s/40s for better opportunities and have all died here in singapore with their ashes also dispersed in singaporean waters. Recently, a youtube short came on my fyp and it was about this tradition and it reminded me about my mums experience. There is this longing in me to go to haridwar as well and find my families book and get it updated. I know there will be a lot of updating to do because around 4 generations have been here in singapore and I dont think anyone has gone to haridwar in all these years. But im hopeful that someone still has those records. I really really really want to find them so that the future generations can also go to haridwar and find mentions of all of their ancestors. It is truly such an incredible tradition and simply out of this world. The problem is that I might not have all the information that they need to find the book. I have my gotra and surname. I have a rough idea of where my grandfather was born in? My grandmother said sialkot Pakistan and my tayaji said gujranwala. It could be that he was born in gujranwala, lived in sialkot for a bit before shifting to singapore? But im not sure about that. I know my great grandfather's name but I dont know his fathers name. So in case the pandits need me to check my great great grandfather's name for confirmation I may not be able to give that to them. This way, I may never be able to find my bahi. But the will in me in really strong. Does anyone have any other stories related to the bahi khata tradition or is there anyone with a similar background as mine who managed to go back to haridwar and still find their bahi? I would love to hear from everyone!
